Adrián San Miguel del Castillo,
Played his last game for the club

And there are clowns on here who think he is a Premiership class goalkeeper.

Fucking joke. Cheerio and don’t forget to lock up on the way out.

Re: Adrián San Miguel del Castillo,
Adrian is good enough for the time being, all keepers will make mistakes even the top ones, what we should be doing is trying to identify a young keeper who can work under Adrian for the next year or two with a view to taking over

At the moment our limited funds are required elsewhere

Re: Adrián San Miguel del Castillo,
I like him and his passion

But he gives away too many goals over the course of a season......or this season anyway

If there is better out there then we would be foolish not to consider it

Re: Adrián San Miguel del Castillo,
Two new full backs, plus at least one experienced CB plus a defensive midfielder will improve the defence immensely. Adrian will benefit from this, and all we need is to get a solid no 2 to compete with him. The young kid at Villa who is on loan from Man U is a free agent in the summer I believe. Otherwise the goalkeepers at Fulham and Brentford are worth considering.

Re: Adrián San Miguel del Castillo,
They are all good shot stoppers but the fact is he can't catch and nothing sticks.

Re: Adrián San Miguel del Castillo,
I tell you Adrian would have saved 2 of our goals yesterday and people rate Pickford. He's good enough and as already posted we've got bigger problems. A RB and DM. Even possibly another LB.

Re: Adrián San Miguel del Castillo,
Ok, this should be easy, all we need to do is get Kouyate's family to learn BUBBLES and that's our centre midfield sorted for another season.

Good post.

Re: Adrián San Miguel del Castillo,
Adrian doesn't need replacing. He needs a manager to appreciate him while employing another keeper to replace Hart that can prove himself better than Adrian in games.

Same for all our players. They need to see competition behind them to keep them on their toes. If they lose their place they can move on if they aren't happy being a back-up.

Re: Adrián San Miguel del Castillo,
He was immense yesterday. I know he has the occasional rush of blood to the head but he's good enough and the goalkeeper shouldn't be our priority in the transfer market. But he does need a decent no.2 who's going to push him. Anyone know if Nathan Trott is considered to be ready for that?

Re: Adrián San Miguel del Castillo,
Yesterday I was sat next to Adrian's family. Lovely people and devout fans of their dad/husband/son/brother (there we loads there by the way). I spoke with his wife and from the conversation that we had I don't think he's going anywhere. The family love London and clearly love West Ham (which was very evident as the whole family knew the words to Bubbles and sang it as loud as anybody else in the ground). His performance yesterday showed that he's not just a good shot stopper but has good positional sense too. We've far far bigger problems that the goalkeeper. He's earned another season as our number one in my view.

Re: Adrián San Miguel del Castillo,
I think Adrian is a decent keeper and the problem is if he isn't number 1 next season I think he will be off so we will have to splash out on two keepers and as others have said that's money needed elsewhere.

Re: Adrián San Miguel del Castillo,
People keep talking about the money it'd cost to replace him.

No one (apart from the ridiculous Foster shout) is confirming how much they're willing to spend on a back up keeper who will need to eventually replace Adrian when he has one of his periods of shocking form?

It can't just be a freebie, as the new fella is clearly going to be starting a lot of games going by the last 2 seasons.

Re: Adrián San Miguel del Castillo,
With the tactics we play (....and are likely to be able to play unless £150 million pounds plus is spent in the transfer market this summer).....it's fair to say replacing Adrian would not be top of any new managers list.

Unless we're going to change to some fast distribution, pressing possession style reliant on a smart and fast keeper it's not worth bothering.

I'd keep him. The £15 million or so needed to replace him is worth spending on full backs, centre backs, wingers, forwards, a solid midfielder covering the back four and some advanced midfielders capable of retaining possession.

Re: Adrián San Miguel del Castillo,
One of the Burnley keepers has to be the way to go.

Both quality, both with designs on being the England keeper, and both at a club even we should be able to out muscle.

Neither of them will want to start next season as a no. 2

Re: Adrián San Miguel del Castillo,
I think it was the sun that did it, he played like he was possessed.
We will never find out how decent he truly is unless he has a defence in front of him that gives him absolute confidence.
No goalkeeper is Superman, although yesterday Adrian came close.

Re: Adrián San Miguel del Castillo,
I agree with the general consensus. Adrian is a decent number one. Not world class, but maybe that could come later. Far more important positions to fill with our £17.90 war chest.

Re: Adrián San Miguel del Castillo,
Can we please stop fucking about with keepers?
Adrian is good enough. We just need an understudy to him who is CLEARLY below him and that’s that. Spend the money on a decent midfield.

Having a really good keeper does nothing for you if the team in front of you is crap anyway. Sunderland and stoke and Swansea had great keepers, so what?

When you think about it, technically a keeper is the only outfield player you could do without if your team is good enough at keeping the ball.(obviously unlikely but theoretically possible). The keeper is the last thing to worry about if your team is underperforming.

We went down with David James ffs! It doesn’t really matter.

Hart's good enough to be Adrian's deputy

Re: Adrián San Miguel del Castillo,
Adrian has shown he is better keeper than Hart.

You're lost this argument thumby.

Re: Adrián San Miguel del Castillo,
For the amount it’ll cost to get a good/substantially better replacement for Adrian, it’s not worth doing so at the moment with so many other needs in the squad. We can finish in the top 10 with him in goal.

He’s not perfect but he’s good enough.
