Did the Burnley game get us Pellegrini?
The official site making a big song and dance about "We have listened to fans who asked us to be ambitious. We hope they agree it is an exciting appointment"

Reports that Moyes was verbally offered a 3 year deal in April, only to then be discarded 6 weeks later.

Could it be that without the very public showing against Burnley and the subsequent media bashing that followed, G&S would have taken on Moyes as planned? Maybe we'll look back in 5 years time at a completely different West Ham than the one we might have had if we didn't kick off.

I think it made the players put more effort into the following game v Southampton. Just as Shearer's comments after Man City led to our improved performance v Leicester. Those two factors helped our survival this year.

For pointing out two facts?

Fair enough. Neither thing ever happened and people chucking coins at our owners made them splash out on a better manager they really didn't want to have to appoint.

I ended up on the disabled area under the directors box for the last 20 mins of the Burnley game so I'm claiming responsibility for signing Pellegrini. Drinks accepted on the party deck after all home games next season. Thanks in advance.

We already had agreed a deal to bring Benitez in as replacement for Allardyce, who himself was the 13th highest paid manager in the world under us.

Re: Did the Burnley game get us Pellegrini?
Of course it forced there hand. Does anyone seriously think they were thinking of employing Rafa or Pelgrini for 8 million a year if the fans had sat there quietly & content? Would they bollocks, they'd have gave Moyes a 2 year contact at the end of the season with a similar kitty to Billics last season. Fact

No they wanted him or Benitez anyway.

Of course it made a difference. That game was the catalyst for not only the fans to give it to G&S but was really where the media got involved.

Our owners got slaughtered during that period because the actions at that game pricked their the media ears up and it was really then that on shows like MOTD, TS, Footy Focus, Sky News did they all start discussing the financial situation and the broken promises.

I think to the guys that stormed the pitch and made those sacrifices. They deserve credit.

Definitely made a difference. Fair play to those that took direct action. The board and media had to take notice and from there the narrative changed.

Those fans and the captain who attacked the protestors should hang their heads and only lift them again to apologise.

Re: Did the Burnley game get us Pellegrini?
I really do think it made a big difference.

There was a lot of righteous posturing from various quarters (not just from within the club) immediately afterwards, saying this kind of thing can only have a negative effect etc. etc., but it just wasn't true.

I'm sure Gold and Sullivan were shocked and reacted defensively at first, but ultimately they had trying to do the bare minimum to keep us up and hoping they would get away with it. But they got caught out. They didn't get away with it. So they've begrudgingly had to up their game.

We may well look back on the Burnley game as a pivotal moment in our history, though of course there will be pivotal moments the other way too I'm sure.

Truth is This Is EXACTLY what happened last close season

They signed the "fab 4 " and sat back thinking it was job done.

I just hope and pray that whoever is advising Pellegrini is blatantly honest about the squad failings

**planned march was the catalyst. But sure the demo probably prompted this as well.

The Real West Ham fans group maybe need some credit here. They forced some points. Maybe we'll see some serious transfer investment and ground improvements.

It's one swallow but not the summer yet. Excuse the pun.
