It’s our time! Blah blah.

Looking forward to it now, loads of football, beers with the chaps. Can’t bloody wait.

All you really need in these tournaments to do well is to have a goal scorer and one or two others hit form and it can make all the difference.

Linaker and Platt 1990 and Shearer sheringham with Gasgoine in 1996 spring to mind.

Yes, that was one.
Argentina v Croatia is on a Thursday which worked better than that on a Friday

I work from home a lot, so will have most of the games on.

Re: We’re going to win the World Cup thread.
England are playing Panama and Tunisia FFS
They should win if they played both at the same time.
Once you are into the sudden death anything (well, most things) can happen with a bit of luck of the draw etc

32 teams is obviously far too many and there will be a lot of tediosity until it gets down to the nitty gritty.
I find the best way is to pace yourself a bit early and watch selected games rather than too many & burn yourself out.
Was trying to find an early evening game to catch up with a mate of mine to watch in a pub (obviously not an England one due to all the part time fans /full time arses they attract) and was a bit of struggle. Settled on Argentina v Croatia.

Re: We’re going to win the World Cup thread.
I am quite looking forward to it, not expecting too much, think we try to play some pretty good football. Actually look like we are not scared to try and hold onto the ball. Got a couple of match winners.

Just dont have the class in the team or squad to compete against the big teams. Need a massive performance or slice of luck to go further than quarters.

Re: We’re going to win the World Cup thread.
Winning a couple of friendlies doesn't mean we will do any better when it comes to REAL games!

I still think we will struggle to get out of the group, the usual nervous draw and then relying on winning the last game or other results going our way.

Quarter final at best IMO, assuming we dont fuck up the group stage.

Happy to be wrong though, but winning the whole thing????? LOL

Warming up nicely - English players saying this is their time, the press taking it up, a few results against shite teams, making the inevitable devastion all the more enjoyable.
Add the anticipation that the English fans will finally get the thrashing they have long deserved from our soviet friends
Can't fucking wait

No chance no Hammers there for a start.

We know the drill come second in the group then get the Krauts, Frogs or Argies in the first knock out stage.

Plane home

Only a friendly of course but was quite impressed by Loftus-Cheek.

This lad looks the business. Big, strong, quick, great feet... But will he start for Chelsea? Lets get a bid in for him
