Life On Mars?
Every few weeks it seems that there's a news report saying something along the lines of 'scientists have discovered signs of xxxxx on Mars that may indicate that there was once life there'.

Have any of these 'discoveries' ever come to anything or is it just a continuous flow of guff that helps keep the funding flowing to these scientists?

Curious minds wish to know.

PS Chiles is on TV now and seemed like an appropriate icon.

Probable, in my opinion.

Social life's likely to be crap, though, without much in the way of brain cells being around

Weirdly it would be incredibly bad news for us if life was found on Mars, assuming it evolved independently from us. It would mean we're not like to survive and become a spacefaring race

No one is suggesting human life, just some form of life

Load of bollocks - human life is impossible in those conditions AND that far away - be better using their money to build huge desalination plants around their coast lines and massive man made reservoirs piped into the deserts.

They'll only put a nuclear bomb on there pointed at earth to hold everybody to ransom on the $ anyway

You are right but I'm sure I read otherwise in its initial formation.

Anyway Mars will become more and more hospitable and earth eventually not so. Buy Mars realestate now Will be worth 10000 trillion Bitcoins in a billion years.

Holy Grail? It will be everything but as it will prove that life on earth is some unique "god given gift" but simply a product of cosmic ballistics. Won't stop the brainless zealots though; they'll just move onto the next reason in their "Book of Iymalwaysright"

ANY planet in it's sun's "Goldilocks zone" would have an enhanced capability of life developing.

Mars probably did start the process but being both too far from the sun (when it cooled) and lacking the mass to hold onto it's atmosphere, never got that far. I imagine they'll find traces of what would have evolved into creatures like us if they had the chance.

The Earth has creatures that live at the bottom of the Ocean without light or heat

Nasa found intermittent flowing water of Mars, so there may well have been an Ocean
