If You Had Your Time Again......
...what job or role would you want to go in to or do instead of your current position ?.

Not many people can say that they are in a role that they wanted to do when they were kids, it just happens, you fall in to it.

My son graduates from Uni next week and he has all the qualifications he needs to be anything he wants to be, he just has no idea what he wants !

There's something to be said of living life to the full and dying relatively young even if by a great white or some River Monster.

What are most people going to retire on?

How many people do you know who retire having worked their nuts off, only to drop dead a short time later. Work hard, play hard. Life is short, enjoy the here and now.

Re: If You Had Your Time Again......
Had a staggy to Newquay about 12 years or so ... me and a MATE managed to blag our way into a hotel bar that was doing a late night drink up for a load of the resident and pro surfers... spoke to a couple and their outlook on life was superb... just did not give a fuck... as long as they got enough endorsements/sponsors and done relatively well in comps it meant they could go round the world surfing at some of the greatest places on this earth... one of them said the majority of the time they would sleep in the hire car or on the beach... none of them had a mortgage... no ties... just pure freedom... so if I had my time again ... yup... I'd try and be a fucking better surfer than I am now !!

Re: If You Had Your Time Again......
You win some
And you loose some
But I've lost the will to lose
My part time job
My faith in God
Falling on a bruise

This no-star bed and breakfast
And insolvency abuse
Make me feel like
Throwing myself off
The kitchen shelf
Falling on a bruise

And all of my unwordly goods
The baliffs took them too
For all the duck-billed silly sods
From Brian Mills' catalogue
Something borrowed bartered and blue
You wind some
And you lose some
You save nothing, nothing
For a rainy day
You need your Nutrasweet Daddy
Or some Peppermint Patty
Or just a hackneyed old cabby
Who can take you and your baby away

Two fives or a ten
Could get me back to you
And stop me
Falling on bruise...

(It's not that I'm agorophobic... it's just that it's not safe to go outside anymore.)

(All the same doors... unintelligible)

(some have said that the sound of a baby crying is the most beautiful sound in the world, but beauty's in the eye of the beholder. As my heart beats over... and over... and over...)

(Tramps like us, baby we were born to lose.)

(Some you win and some you lose
But I've spent my whole lifetime falling on a bruise. If I had a chance to do it all again, I'd change everything...)

Sample:
I dunno, it seems to me, if they ain't gotcha one way, they've got you another. So what's the answer? That's what I keep asking myself... what's it all about? Know what I mean?

Yeah they seem like really boring cunts. See why you'd like them though all snug together in a tent at night. Very Brokeback Mountain.

I was thinking something similar the other day.

A few people I've met recently thru work have been from the towns and villages in the north and midlands you'd never have heard of. They like a beer now and then but they've been totally removed from the nightlife/clubbing environment that dominates most young people's lives. There's fuck all to really do in terms of "out out" where they're from. None into football or rugby or anything either.

Their recreation in life was/is generally extreme sports, climbing, mountain biking, that sort of thing. But by age 23 most of them had spent a lot of time abroad (not just holidays but ski seasons in the alps, trips to Everest and the andies, months spent surfing in the south pacific etc.) mostly paid for simply by saving up doing normal jobs, and not blowing all their spare money on the town.

Their lives are much more "free" than anyone I know doing 9-5 and earning great money; they're self-employed abseilers who also do things like taking tourists out on bike trips in the peaks, organise kayak jaunts in the lakes, and odd building work, and have their own houses and families and plenty of money to spend on fucking off to Norway or Australia whenever they feel like it.

Yet half the people they meet tell them they're "boring" cos they only ever have 2 pints of bitter after work.

Made me think that without the distraction of going out and getting cunted every weekend, a LOT of peoples' lives would probably have been very different.
