I don't suppose it sounds good when the news headlines are 'Crowd disturbances at the Sainsburys Superbowl'? Just a thought.

Amazing how poorly the whole project has been managed from the original design up until now, but I guess this is UK politics in action so maybe not do amazing.
Funniest thing is how much they banged in about legacy and white elephants originally.

Yes I think they want too much, West Ham and PL football are obviously a big draw for any sponsor, but many stadium sponsorship deals also include shirt sponsorship etc, which obviously isn't included in this deal.

Re: Search for sponsor of West Ham's home costs nearly £450,000
Two years in and still no one wants the naming rights.
All seems very odd as any old stadium can usually attract a sponsor and the LS is "ICONIC" as they come.
Are they asking too much?

Stepney

We get 50% of any sponsorship deal over £4m.

But you're right, that is 50% of fuck all for the last 2 years.

Let us sort it out for a straight 50% and everyone is a winner as we would have a much better job finding a sponsor that those incompetent fuckwits.

Win/win for everyone.

It'll never happen though, the LLDC are too stubborn.

Make it a 50/50 split and let us find the sponsor. 50% off something is better for the taxpayer than the 100% of nothing they'll continue to get if left to the LLDC.

The fact that they can't find a sponsor for a stadium that has the whole Olympic legacy thing as a selling point, hosts Premier League football (along with other sports and concerts) and is pretty much in central London just shows how incompetent they really are.

I'm surprised they didn't claim finding a sponsor was impossible with the current anchor tenant in situ.

Re: Search for sponsor of West Ham's home costs nearly £450,000
They should have contacted me. I could have 'not found' a sponsor for a fraction of the price.

The money wasted by businesses and councils on consultants that do this kind of thing is criminal. The British Army recently spent half a million on getting a new slogan, as Be The Best was seen as elitist, only for the MoD to veto it because the British Army IS the best.

Re: Search for sponsor of West Ham's home costs nearly £450,000
No - they were going to rip half of it down and leave it as another once-a-season athletics stadium (25k?). Better than what they've done in Greece (ie. 'something'), but still an horrendous waste of money. It could only have held the odd smaller concert, although I doubt they'd have bothered (just as they don't with Crystal Palace).

And it would have been ours to do with as we pleased. Whether that would have pleased us is another matter entirely.....

It's not for a year you fuckwit, it's for 25 games.

Re: Search for sponsor of West Ham's home costs nearly £450,000
I'm pretty sure that our original offer for the stadium, which was accepted, would have cost us allot more money and would have made the LLDC allot more money but because of Spurs and Leyton Orients legal challenge we ended up with the current deal that, financially, is better for West Ham and worse for the LLDC?

My understanding is the original deal would have given us allot more freedom in terms of kitting the stadium out in West Ham colours etc and making it feel like him, maybe even finding a better solution for the "retractable seating".

So fuck you LLDC if you are losing millions of money due to your own mismanagement and Barry Hearns constant fucking moaning, but this is all their own doing.

As said, we even offered to help find a sponsor for the stadium, which I am sure (for all their faults) our current regime would be able to do, but they turned their nose up at it.

Fuck me can you imagine how much money the stadium would be losing if West Ham were not in there paying £2.5m a year? Was there ever a realistic viable option that would have made them any money other than West Ham?

Re: Search for sponsor of West Ham's home costs nearly £450,000
Tits McGhee did offer to help find them a partner but they declined.

she would likely do a better job of it. as mentioned below we could possibly buy the rights ourselves then sell it on at a profit.

Re: Search for sponsor of West Ham's home costs nearly £450,000
We should do what Man City did and offer to buy the naming rights to sell them on ourselves.

Brilliant! Naturally, if the rights get sold it will be, 'in spite of Brexit'

We have our branding all over the stadium at the moment, haven't you noticed?

Re: Search for sponsor of West Ham's home costs nearly £450,000
How much are they looking for per season?

The club should just pay it, then we can choose the name, “the Bobby Moore” or something like that. Buys a bit of goodwill with the fans and we can have our branding all over it and make it feel more like our home ground.

Re: Search for sponsor of West Ham's home costs nearly £450,000
Exactly. No-one EVER mentions that.

If they hadn't have sabotaged the original deal, the taxpayer wouldn't have to worry about anything. It would all be on us.

Thanks to Hearn and Levy.

If we had our way then it would not be of concern to the taxpayer.

Re: Search for sponsor of West Ham's home costs nearly £450,000
Bit of a non story. Not really much to do with West Ham and we're unlikely to see much benefit. So fuck them if they can't sort it out. I see the club offered to help. Don't know why they don't just hand it over to us and make it our problem. West Ham pay for finding a sponsor and in turn they make the naming rights deal more favourable for us.

Love the way they have to add at the bottom the bit about corner flags etc.
