Those Match/Shoot player profiles were such a laugh...

Apart from being able to guarantee that most players favourite meal was steak and chips in the 80's their favourite TV programme/sitcom would be Cheers/Only Fools & Horses - without fail!

Bubbles.

They were. Seems every player listed steak as his favourite meal.

And i remember reading a profile on Bobby Moore when i was very young. It read.
Bobby Moore.

Born. Barking.

Surely i wasnt the only kid who thought the first sound Bob made was woof woof.
This still makes me giggle to this day.

To be fair obviously SOME of the pics were probably taken when players were signed and they were moving into new houses.

Was thinking you don't really see these sort of pics with modern players.
At home with wife , kids , 8 cars and 100 inch tv.
Plus the maid holding the HOOVER

Ron Harris used to hand out sweets to young boys.

FACT.

And before a moderator reaches for the delete button, It was in the sweet shop that he owned in West Ewell, Surrey.

Those modernist houses behind Mrs. Wagstaff's barnet look amazing...

I can totally understand how they would have been seen as an unbeliveable upgrade from a traditional 2 up 2 down with no frills...which a lot of footballers would have probably grown up in...

Why did Peter Bonetti drive around in a sports car while his poor family had to live in that caravan?

Re: Olden... but STILL Golden...
What I mean is, Storey played fullback some of the time for the Gooners and Alf used him as FB for England

If you want to be really pedantic, back in the boring Arsenal days they had 9 full backs one striker, Charlie George and school teacher Bob Wilson in goal

Far Cough 6:35 Wed Aug 1
Re: Olden... but STILL Golden...
Yeah I knew Storey was a fullback but wasn't quite sure about Simpson

Olden days : No Gavros
Current day: Existence of Gavros

Probably worth putting up with polyester shirts and sideburns I’d say

Re: Olden... but STILL Golden...
Lovely bit if nostalga that.

FC.
I'm being a pedantic cunt here but Simpson and Storey were never full backs. Simpson was a left half and Storey was tough tackling defensive midfielder.

Your'e usually better with the old stuff,i'll put this shambles down to the heat.

Oh and Pat Riceand Eddie Kelly were the Arsenal full backs of that era.

The good old day's when hair could be hair and you would feel like a king just for being a professional football player and not because of how much money you had in your bank account.
