Vice-captain?
So with Reid out long-term, who will get to wear the arm-band if Noble isn't playing? It's got me stumped - I can't think of an obvious candidate, partly because so many first choice players are newcomers this season. It ought to be someone who's one of the first names on the team-sheet. Arnie seems a bit of a maverick, but could it be him? Possibly Wilshere?

Problem with Arnie is that he is a confidence player and when things aren't going his way he has a strop and just slopes about doing fuck all.

Make him captain and he can't do that and so it gives him the added impetus to get the fuck into the game even when he is having bad day.

Or Reo-Coker (on the captain part, not the position, obviously)

Only mentioned Moore as an example of how it is possible to have a young captain after suggesting Rice is too young right now.

To be fair to Rice, he is very good and level headed, so if he continues to develop and improve his game, he'll be closer to Moore than to Breen, for example.

Lily Hammer I hope you weren't comparing Rice to Bobbie Moore because he is nowhere near as good as our Bobbie and never will be.

I find that unless the player has strong leadership qualities and brings other players in to the game, the captaincy can impact on a players natural ability.

Arnie for me is a flair player whom we have a lot of demand on to score goals. Giving him the Captaincy could be a step too far in him delivering the there qualities we have a demand on. I saw this example in Kane at the World Cup when he stepped away from his core duty of goal scorer.

For me, I think Rice is a good future captain and would be best suited in partnering with Noble assuming he gets game time of course. Otherwise Wilshere would be a good option.

I like Ogbonna but he is too nice.

It seems it will be Arnautovic, I think it is a little early for him but I trust the manager.

Re: Vice-captain?
Rice is certainly future captain material, but a bit too young right now, though Mooro was young when he became captain.
If he keeps developing how he has been, we should build the team around the likes of him.

For now, Zabaletta when he's on the pitch is the best man to take the armband in Noble's absence. I know he is still a newbie, but the bloke oozes class and you can tell he has total respect from his team mates and referees, and leads by example. Very short term though.

Possibly Arnie, but I wonder if he'd be better off without that responsibilty. Hard to tell. It may make him an even better player.

Re: Vice-captain?
IMO Noble will always remain club captain until he retires

but on the pitch if noble not playing:

Captain: Arnie
Vice: Wilshire
