Re: Kevin Nolan gone
They can afford to do that but the main reason is they see it as a stepping stone.
Imagine they all expect to be managing a Premier league team within about 3 years.
To be honest after a couple of years at that level learning the basics I reckon most would be better being an assistant at a bigger club.

True. And managing lower division clubs certainly doesn't pay the kind of money Nolan would have been used to from his playing days. Ex-players manage there for love of the game, nothing else.

Re: Kevin Nolan gone
To be fair to him managing lower down is tough work.
He DID get them into the top 2 to start with but his record has gone backwards since they got beaten in the Playoff semi.

The biggest problem is that players at this level are inadequate cunts who aren't good enough to be paid to play.
And that Chairmen have delusions of grandeur.
All Notts County have is their history and haven't done anything for about 35 years.

Is there anyone that actually thought this grinning chancer would be a good manager?? He stole a living from us for 4 years and is now set up for life, so at least being a fraud won't impact too much on the rest of his days. Money made, job done.

Re: Kevin Nolan gone
He was rubbish for them. He dropped out the top two last season then lost in the play off semi to go up. They were favs for promotion this year, won 2 away in 2018 and one point in five matches this season utter drivel.

Deserved the sack.

Re: Kevin Nolan gone
He got them promoted last season didn’t he, first season in a new league always going to be difficult. Unreasonable expectations from the board!

Re: Kevin Nolan gone
Notts County are one of the very worst clubs around for manager turnover over the past 25 years...

Hence why they are so shit

Re: Kevin Nolan gone
i did a divisional accumulator just before the season started and they were one of my shortlisted teams but what put me off was nolan had got rid of a lot experienced players and brought in much younger replacements. it was always going to take time and many chairmen don't have the patience or courage to wait

8 wins in 28 games has done for him

Mangers have got to be allowed to fail and use that experience to improve. It’s an accepted thing abroad but us Brits have a tendency to write people off who have a blot on their copy book.

Look how well ( perhaps I’m being premature ) the Crowley brothers are doing with their Lincoln team top of the table.
