Divorce - Advice Needed please
My wife (sorry no link) has decided to leave after 16 years of marriage. We currently live in rented accommodation so there are no finances to be split plus I have no savings or pension.

My wife however inherited a substantial amount a coupleof years ago which she has effectivlely 'hidden' away somewhere !

Before I contact a solicitor I was hoping that somebody could advise meas to if or how I can make a claim on this money - I have googled and googled but it seems a bit of a minefield.

Any advice appreciated regarding this or other financiial things to look our for

In a marriage everything is split 50:50 . The only asvice I can give is always marry someone far richer than you.

This is what mine did.

The day after she announced she wanted a divorce (without warning or any chance of even discussing why), she changed the password on the Premium Bonds account I had opened in her name with 20K of the 120k inheritance i got when my mum died 12 months previously. I had already had the max (at the time) 30k in my account, so seemed logical to tuck more away in her name..

A few weeks later, she then says she would have asked for the divorce sooner, but then waited after knowing my mum had cancer and then claimed that 20k as being hers when it came to declaring finances, as it was in her name.

Surely if you do a good deed like that, good grace would be to not start demanding your money back just cos you and the mum fell out?

Also, if the mum does get particularly cunty, the daughter will always be there to say "but mum he helped me out and never asked for it back" etc.

Well that's true. Without every detail to hand it's difficult to say who is ultimately 'right' or 'wrong' here.

I think the word 'failed' is a given. If you're an estate agent, then you've officially failed at life.

Id be gobsmacked if you receive a penny of her inheritance.
Good from what I can gather there's no kids involved.
Rid your life from her and never look back mate.
All the best.

I'd have thought it reasonable to ask for enough to cover the amount he agreed to spend out of his own pocket to bail her daughter out of whatever mess she'd gotten herself into?

Actually I'd have expected anyone with any good grace or moral compass to offer to pay that back anyway.

Yeah, take the money, spunk it all on brasses, drugs, booze and holidays and to hell what other gossiping self righteous cunts say about you.

Re: Divorce - Advice Needed please
Even leaving "dignity" aside it ain't worth it, tbh.

Even in the spectacularly small possibility that Dingus wins any of that money, the process is likely to take a long long time and cost a fortune anyway. Plus the story to the world will be "jealous vindictive hubby nicks poor woman's inheritance to prove a point".

There's absolutely no way you can win really is there?
