Saturday football
It’s Saturday, the weather’s good and there’s a decent line up of Premier League games today. What’s there not to be happy about?

LEICESTER CITY vs LIVERPOOL (1230 ko)
This is an interesting start to the weekend, as a fighting Leicester side plays host to steamrollering, table-topping Liverpool. Vardy serves the last of his three-game suspension. That will please Herr Klopp, who will have clapped when Man City dropped points last time out. This one should be worth watching. Away win.

BRIGHTON & HOVE ALBION vs FULHAM
Fulham come into this buoyed form having taken all points from Burnley – which is no mean feat these days. Chris Hughton has made Brighton into a well-organised unit, but you’re still never quite sure how they will perform. Both teams will fancy their chances here. Draw.

CHELSEA vs BOURNEMOUTH
It’s been a good start to the season for both sides. Bournemouth will want to show that their win over West ham was no fluke, but will find the Blues too strong. Defence will be the watchword for the Cherries, but Maurizio Sarri will find a way to get through. Home win.

CRYSTAL PALACE vs SOUTHAMPTON
Scoring goals remains the major challenge for the Saints. Palace’s record so far hasn’t been great either. Expect a close game between two well-matched sides. It’s hard to see a winner. Draw.

EVERTON vs HUDDERSFIELD TOWN
Speaking of goal scoring problems, only Huddersfield have a worse record so far than us. You have to worry about their ability to stay up this season. Everton have made a solid start under Marco Silva and will continue that today. The only question is how many times they will breach the Terriers’ defence. Home win.

WEST HAM UNITED vs WOLVERHAMPTON WANDERERS
It’s been a truly crap start to the season, but you have to hope that Manuel Pellegrini has by now sorted out the side’s defensive infirmity. Do that and the rest will fall into place soon enough. The good news is that Arnautovic is reported to have overcome his injury and will be back today. Wolves are fortunate to be more than one point above us. We should be too strong for them this afternoon, which will put us one point above them. A (very) hefty win could actually put us into the top 10 at the close of play. Our season starts today and woe betide anyone who fails to make that happen. Home win.

MANCHESTER CITY vs NEWCASTLE UNITED (1730 ko)
Who’d be Rafa? Pep Guardiola will be furious at dropping points at Wolves last week and will want to get back to winning ways without delay. Benitez has always been a man who values pragmatism as much as optimism, but the former is surely the need to the current hour. Which equates to defending in numbers and breaking quickly. But we all know what happens with that approach when you play Man City. Home win.
