Reliable "hilarity" from Popbitch this week.

Paint nuthin but a hound dog

There's a lot to criticise the BBC for in their handling of the Cliff Richard case, but there is one truly unforgivable thing that they have yet to answer for.

They sent cameras round to televise a police raid happening at his house, but they didn’t get any footage of the huge oil painting Cliff had hanging up of him singing with Elvis Presley? What were they thinking?

Cliff and Elvis never actually performed together (he commissioned the painting himself, technically putting it in the category of 'fan art') but if you mention this to Cliff, he will fix your gaze and tell you very matter-of-factly that, if it wasn't for the King's untimely death, he "would have".

He is the biggest selling artist in GB or at least near the top he has been loved and cherished throughout his life and is at British legend status.
Now the BBC fucked up they went overboard with the helicopter over his house running a story as if it were fact when there was absolutely no proof to anything and the investigation was at an embryonic stage, that I agree, they were wrong to do this and got rightly stung by the courts for making this bad error in judgement .

But for Cliff Richard to come out with his newest song release as if he were Nelson Mandella or Terry Waite or that the world was at some point against him is indicative of the new celebrities of today, I expected more from him and I expect that the only ones who will 'rise up' and buy his new album are his very solid old fans, oh it will probably get to No 1 too but it will not even be a drip of sweat worthy of entering the history of popular music, just a generic sounding old legend singer trying his best to stay relevant, which is something he has not been musically for quite some time nor does he need to be but he keeps for whatever reason trying and failing, and I actually like some of his old stuff.

Was massively thrown under the bus for being of a certain generation and involved in a corporation where loads of them were dodgy.

Literally couldn't care less about him, but the reason he's still free to prance is because there wasn't a single piece of evidence due to him being clean and just an odd chap who doesn't like untold amount of snatch like most men do.

As for the song, neither good nor bad and Devil Woman is still his only decent tune.

Most of his core fans are now dead surely?

Yeah "Rise Up" and we know what he is referring to... but whats he looking at when that's happening? Little boys perhaps?

He always strenuously denied he was gay (which btw no one these days cares if he is ) . Then again he would probably claim "no I'm not gay it's my husband he's the one that is" ;-)

He's a "wrong un" ( allegedly?) just the evidence has not stuck.... yet? Wait until after he pegs it. Then the revelations will probably start. Bit like the establishment/political figures/royalty that have been and / or are involved with kiddy fiddling. A huge cover up I reckon. All went quiet about Ted Heath and co, Prince Andrew.

Conspiracy theorist ? Who me?
