The Evening Standard were saying he is back running but not in full training but that Pellegrini didn’t want to rush him as he is as FRAGILE AS AN EGG and a complete waste of money.
They were saying that Spurs in the League Cup on Oct 31 was a possible target but that of course he may possibly be in a full body cast by then.

Don't panic!! The Mirror (no QUOTES) say WHUFC hope he will be back in 2 weeks! The joy!

(Though he'll probably snap his leg in a Black Friday shopping ruck for a 90-inch telly. That £5m isn't going to spend itself you know.)

As said he won't want to leave London.
Probably end up at Palace after they get rid of Benteke.

Never really saw Carroll as a coup for us.

He was a powerful and efficient player for Newcastle that never really replicated the same at Liverpool.

Coming to us was a chance for him to reignite a flagging career but it was clear even at the outset he was a injured has been of his time at Newcastle.

And since then he has always been the same. He has drive and talent but does not behave like a professional leading to constant injury and no return to his employers.

It's like buying a high performance car and then seeing it in a garage with a busted engine. Try to fix it but it never performs the same way as before and becomes an expensive piece of junk.

Let's be honest at the time of signing it was a coup for us. When he plays he is effective. We did not know he injuries would pan out like this!

Apart from he had missed great big chunks of the season with the Durham Bumpers and Red scouse.... which I brought up at the time...

Get rid next summer

For the amount we've laid out on him the return has been appalling. In time on the pitch and usually performances too.

Re: The Carroll Saga...To End...Hopefully...???
AC isn't going to leave until his contract ends - he will never again command the sort of wages he is getting with us, and he knows it too.

And you can be sure he will continue to be 'injured' for the majority of that time... anybody who is witness to his personal life now knows he is more than content to be at home with his wife and nipper.

He is unlikely to be offered anything other than Pay As You Play, and as stated above, his Mrs won't leave London, so you can be sure he won't be willing to either, no matter what the deal.

We are going to have to write him off next July.

Champing.

AC would be a useful sub for Arnie if he could stay fit and focussed. But he can't. Shame but there we have it.

Re: The Carroll Saga...To End...Hopefully...???
Yes, it's very revisionist to claim that we weren't mostly chomping at the bit to get him in after that loan season. Just in his debut against Fulham he looked like the player we'd been after for years (although ironically he pulled a muscle and was out for a couple of games after...)

Obviously some never liked him or wanted him, but the vast majority were well for the move. I think to a person we'd all say with hindsight we shouldn't have done it, but hindsight is 20/20 isn't it.

Re: The Carroll Saga...To End...Hopefully...???
RBshorty is right - at any other club Carroll isn't going to earn a quarter of the pay he is on with us, so he simply won't agree to leave until next summer whatever transfer bids may be made. Bilic clearly implied that Carroll does not work hard enough on his fitness, or to recover from whatever his latest injury is. There should be clauses in a long contract addressing injuries and in particular the situation where a player can just sit out the remainder of its term without trying to earn himself a place back in the team.

Very good player when fit but that's been far too infrequent in his time with us. Shame as I think he could have easily been a 20 goal a season forward. Time for him to move on.

I didn't have full access to his medical records.

An excuse the club doesn't have.

...hmm...and lets not forget the stadium of fans who pleaded with him to sign at the end of his loan period......cant just blame the owners and BFS on this - he was wanted by most when he signed...

Re: The Carroll Saga...To End...Hopefully...???
According to transfermarkt, he's contracted until 30th June next year.

Cue six months of scorching form, we give him another good contract, and he never plays for us again...
