We have got Pakistan right where we want them.

They'll win this test convincingly on their specially prepared spin paradise, then we'll take them back to Abu Dhabi and thrash the pants off them AGAIN.

Is that so England can avoid playing a Test series against New Zealand?
And taking ANOTHER beating

If India win in Australia, then really the ICC should consider a three tier system.

England
India

Australia
South Africa
Pakistan

Everyone else

Whereby England and India just play each other home and away all the time and then once every 4 years the others can come over for a couple of Tests at the Rose Bowl or Durham at the start of a Summer.

I don't. He averages 27 from 15 test matches. Needs runs to get back in and had a really poor summer for the pink benders

Re: England tour of Sri Lanka
Still feel a bit for malan with the batting situation - he was dropped very sharpish as soon as he had a dip in form, was reliably informed that perhaps he was really better suited to overseas conditions and then wasn’t picked anyway!

0, 0, 1, 0, 0, 0, 4, 0

The scores from the last 8 NZ batsmen. From 50/0 to 90 all out.

Now that's a collapse.

So moving forward they're not going to be carrying 3 spinners, who would you go for? think Leach has earned himself a go ahead of Rashid, or would they not even select a 2nd spinner on most other pitches?

Re: England tour of Sri Lanka
Despite his personal disappointment, Anderson - a veteran of wins in Australia, India and South Africa - was full of praise for England's triumph here, their first series victory in Sri Lanka for 17 years.

'I think it's right up there,' he said. 'It's been a real big stepping stone for us as a team.

'We've been good in parts over the last 18 months, but a bit inconsistent. There have been improvements this trip in some of the performances, like Ben Foakes coming in and Burnsy as well, plus Keaton with his hundred. There were question marks over certain positions, but we're getting to the place now where there are a lot of options.

Re: England tour of Sri Lanka
It's fucking ridiculous. His excellent form which would have guaranteed he come walking back into the team was 3 years ago, he has averaged around 30 with the bat over the last year. What the fuck is going through his mind thinking he'll bowl back into the team after his replacement comes in and has probably been our man of the series?

The thing is, if we get selection and batting order right against the Aussies, we could do them 5-0. Won't happen though.

Re: England tour of Sri Lanka
Maybe he was pumped up after coming off after a century but I thought Bairstows interview was extraordinary
Railing against everyone who was against him ...some imaginary critics
He injured himself in a silly way and the bloke who came in did really well and deserved to keep his place.
It was then up to Bairstow to perform when he got back in. Not get all punchy about everyone ‘having a go at him’

The daft ginger headbutter

Re: England tour of Sri Lanka
The not so good stuff to come out of this tour is that TPM is going to, somehow, keep his place based on 1 innings and the fact he has pictures of Bayliss & Root in an uncompromising postion.

Jimmy Anderson, instead of congratulating the rest of the team for what they have done, did nothing but moan about how hard he had it bowling and how frustrated he was, and Johnny Bairstow thinking that averaging 30 for the last year should guarantee him a spot in the team after injury when his replacements comes in and averages 75.

Right TEAM PLAYERS, those two.

Why?

Have the ECB announced the results of their enquiry into Ben Stokes punching men at the ‘Fight Club M&S Gay Bar’ yet?
