Sir Philip Green's been a naughty boy
Sir Philip Green has been named in Parliament as the businessman at the centre of Britain's #MeToo scandal.

Lord Peter Hain, the former Leader of the House of Commons, said that he felt a "duty" to reveal the name under parliamentary privilege.

He told a hushed House of Lords on Thursday afternoon: "My Lords, having been contacted by someone intimately involved in the case of a powerful businessman using non-disclosure agreements and substantial payments to conceal the truth about serious and repeated sexual harassment, racist abuse and bullying, which is compulsively continuing, I feel it's my duty under parliamentary privilege to name Philip Green as the individual in question given that the media have been subject to an injunction preventing publication of the full details of this story which is clearly in the public interest."

It's verging on the inconceivable that he wasn't aware of the Telegraph connection - the law firm would clearly view such a high profile client as a selling point to potential clients, even if it's "just mentioned in passing" during preliminary discussions.

All it needs now is for somebody to come out with a verifiable claim that he mentioned that "The Telegraph also use the same lawyers he does" and the whole house of cards should come crashing down.

Should, but it won't. Even given such indiscretions the establishment is likely to close ranks over this and wait until it all "blows over".

Thick as thieves, that lot.

This is a bit like the old ‘cash for questions’ scandal of years ago.
He has taken money to abuse his parliamentary position.
Should be expelled from the House of Lords.
Must be something in the statutes that sees him taken to the Tower and have his head on a spike being pecked by RAVENS

"and doesn't give a shit if he fucks up suppliers by telling them half way through a contract that he now expects an extra 5% off the bill or he'll just go elsewhere. His reasoning is that if his sales have slowed then the supplier has to take the hit. "

there is some truth in this, but usually cost price reductions are taken at 5% a week if a supplier is late.
if sales are especially poor we might ask for a contribution to markdown - depends on the reasoning.

he 100% is a bully, but is from a different generation of retailers. i've still got suppliers who shout & swear all day long. it's just the way of the industry.

Hain exposed Green via PP but loads of people knew about the gagging order and his name would have been out by now anyway. Anyone using social media from abroad being free to do so.

I've no time at all for Green

It's no surprise though that the subtleties of due process and abuse of privilege are beyond your comprehension. Especially when it's your Labour mates that are prime culprits.,

Hain is one of the more bearable Blairites/moderates but no surprise to see SERF having a pop at him instead of the parasitic pig that is Green. But then the latter is one of your own.

It’s a dangerous precedent for politicians to pick and choose which court orders THEY decide should be breached.
Would he have revealed that Rupert Murdoch divorced Wendy Deng because Tony Blair was porking her ?
Or any other stuff that was embarrassing to a politician or supporter?

Coffee 4:31 Fri Oct 26

Thats a good point Coffee, but in this case we are talking about a bloke who is known as the “unacceptable face of capitalism” and has maybe made a lot of enemies by being a bit of a cunt in business, not to mention his treatment of BHS staff and there pension fund.

On this occasion, his naming is fully deserved.
