What is realistically our 'next level' ?
Since 2012-13 season we've finished 10th, 13th,12th,7th,11th and 13th in the league and had a poor record in Cup competitions during that period . Clearly the squad looks weaker now than it did in Bilic's first season with an in form Payet, Moses, Song and a fit Lanzini . We've got the 'big club' stadium , attendances and player wage bill...transfer cash has been spunked on dross under successive managers , Bilic , Moyes and now Pellegrini , regardless of whether Sullivan has been behind the wheeling and dealing. So hoping rather than assuming the Chilean can get his players performing , fit and finding a few wins from somewhere when we do start finally climbing the table what's realistic for us from here? We'll never crack top six under these owners in my opinion , they don't have the money or the ambition...but the bare minimum of 'next level' for us should be to regularly finish top ten...it certainly doesn't justify the stadium move but it'd be a small step forward of some description. At the moment it looks like we've achieved nothing but a bigger wage bill and a pointless move to a stadium that most fans hate. Their promised next level seems a long way away.

Establish our self in the top 10 first! Successive seasons in the top half from the beginning of the season to the end!
Then start asking how can we get into the top 6!

decent owners would be a next level, until they fuck off we'll continue to be mediocre

7th and Europa League is realistic and should've been our target at the start of thr season. Top 6 is a way off, but a few seasons in and around 7th, with europe and a cup thrown in would see us close the gap. It would also need good spending.

It's how our friends in notth london have done it, with a good manager.

Looking forward to saturday afternoons and leaving the stadium with a spring in my step would be next level for me.

Re: What is realistically our 'next level' ?
Good question.

The way the league's played out in recent years there seems to be only two distinct levels - the top 6 and the rest. Predicting the order of the league 7th to 20th is incredibly difficult. As we're clearly in that group for me there is only one 'next level' and that's the top six.

I thought what might happen is that a group of middle tier clubs establish themselves as largely unrelegatable. But it hasn't happened yet imo. Even a club like Everton, clearly broadly the 'best of the rest' could get relegated in a duff season I think. On the other hand, if we did feel safe in the league but incapable of reaching the top 6 it would be boring and also disincentivises the club to reach for better. So maybe it's better for us that that 'level' never exists.

The stats clearly indicate that 10th place is our next level

Mid table without relegation worries and having a go at the cups (behind all the big 6)
That’s the limit of where we can be under the current circumstances

Moses was up and down. Thought he started well but was too inconsistent and pretty average after he got injured.
Was one that benefited from having Payet in the team like Antonio.
Seems to be out of the picture under Sarri

Regularly top 8...
Never in relegation battles...
A cup final...or two...

And Chelsea before the money came in.

I’ve never thought our club could be as good as Arsenal. But the other pair of cunts, yes I thought we would reign supreme one day.

Re: What is realistically our 'next level' ?
Next level for me, would be akin to what Spurs are doing. They are in the mix now every season. Add in the the CL or even the EL and they ain’t doing bad.

Unattainable you may say, no chance. But we used to finish above these cunts quite regularly. The situation we are in is down to poor ownership. So unless that changes, relegation will always be more likely.

I thought Moses didn't want to be with us (not particularly because we were us, but because he was fed up with going out on loan), and it showed big time

Re: What is realistically our 'next level' ?
I thought Moses was pretty crap for us so was surprised how well he played for Chelsea when he went back there

A season where we're never in the relegation zone after a couple of games have been played.

One step at a time...
