‘European Super League’ plan for 2021
Be the thin end of the wedge if you ask me, things are fine as they are, although lets go back to a proper champions league, all this mini league stuff is frankly boring and it only becomes interesting in the knock out stages.

But how fucked up is this, under the proposal the foundation 11 clubs cannot be relegated, so assuming at least 1 club will get relegated and another wins the right to play in this league, a "none top 11" club could finish 5th but still get relegated assuming the other 4 finish 1st to 4th.

Corporate will lap up this shit
There will still be enough travelling fans to make an atmosphere

Well yes but you still want supporters in the ground unless of course the capacity would just be taken up by locals and corporate which wouldn't surprise me.

As usual its nothing to do with supporters going to matches
Its all about fans in front of their tvs in Surrey, China and all places in between.

Fuck ‘em. Let them go form their wanky super league.
Good time to reform the PL with wages caps and homegrown player focus.

Re: ‘European Super League’ plan for 2021
I think it's quite amusing that the breakaway Clubs think their supporters will be able to actually afford following them around Europe for years!! Might be a luxury the first year but can't imagine the supporters cost involved.

Sport in general has gone to shit since it all got greedy, I'm glad I got the chance to watch Bonds and Brooking, Cottee and McAvennie Coe and Ovett, Borg, McEnroe and Connors, Nicklaus and Watson and Botham and Gower. They can shove their European Super Leagues, Blue Athletics tracks and multi-coloured sponsored sports gear up their jacksie!!!!

All nonsense I'm sure.

And as a fan, I couldn't think of anything more boring that just playing those teams every week.

Willtell so they'll want their cake and eat it, let the cunts go and see how all of these 'BIG' European superpowers deal with mid table mediocrity or worse still bottom of the league with no excitement with the threat of relegation for 9 months

On top of that there is no 'prize' for finishing anywhere other that top so excitement in the league will dry up, let them go and see how they'll all moan playing in half full stadiums with no atmosphere, or will that be the time that they let fans in for nothing

Rather than be custodians of the game these clowns want to be seen as revolutionaries assuming that they'll be forever remembered as godfathers of World Football

Still I'm off in a moment to watch the team I love slug it out with the mighty Burnley and can't wait

all this 'supplementary league/competition' is bollocks. if they think they're bigger than their host leagues, fuck off and as soon as possible. the game will survive without you

Let them go, it will make the league far more interesting.

Football died when they pulled down terraces, thanks to Liverpool fans. This is just another nail in the coffin.

The plan was to use Dubai for the drinkers

I heard in all seriousness it be weakened beer they will be selling, I doubt drinking on the street will be allowed

Huge tents I'd assume, unless someone fancies a tipple in the Sheritan Metal detector and armed guards before you enter

It's going to be fun* for the supporters in the Qatar world cup.

It's national LAW in the countries mentioned to transport/be in possession of alcohol, and that includes in the blood stream. I've not seen any proposals to change/modify/suspend those LAWS.

Foreigners are going to be absolutely rinsed at every chance by local officials just "doing their job" in the eyes of Allah. Instant "fines", naturally, none of which will reach the government coffers or even be recorded.

Crassus it was all bullshit obviously, image the fans going outside the "Air-con" Stadium in that humidity and getting on the piss (Weakened piss so I have been told )

Re: ‘European Super League’ plan for 2021
Haven’t seen the proposal but I suspect they will want to play as many games as they would now if they made the Champions League Final
Except they are all against ‘big’ teams rather than Red Star Belgrade and Olympiakos and are guaranteed for years.
No costly early knockouts and no worrying about not signing the best players because there is a risk of not qualifying next season.

They may not need two completely separate teams and stockpiling & retaining players will be easier.

Sven Roeder 10:46 Sat Nov 3
Re: ‘European Super League’ plan for 2021
They will want bigger squads and be allowed to spend even more.
Man City could already put out a second XI & beat most of the bottom 14

Re: ‘European Super League’ plan for 2021
Surely it's more likely for clubs like the top 5 to have one team in the PL and one for the Super League?

Sven Roeder 10:33 Sat Nov 3
Re: ‘European Super League’ plan for 2021
Perhaps the other 15 Prem league teams can vote (75%) for themselves to be named ‘Foundation’ members and be immune from relegation for the next 20 years.
Three of Chelsea, Man U , Man C , Liverpool & Arsenal to be relegated

Crassus 10:31 Sat Nov 3
Re: ‘European Super League’ plan for 2021
Yes, insane conditions, swept under the carpet by way of that air conditioned stadium plan, a plan that had never been delivered and was mere theory

I'm with you, mere guff to getthe event down there and adjust the timing after the event once they had trousered the money

Re: ‘European Super League’ plan for 2021
FIFA must have known there was no way the World cup could be held in Qatar in the summer.

Qatar is a peninsular and with temperatures of 50C+ the humidity if off the radar. By law no one can workout outside from 11:30am to 4:30pm

I am accustom to working in humidity and I followed the above rules and I ended up in hospital twice with heat exhaustion
