Re: Wayne Rooney to have farewell match for England
Rooney has been a very lucky boy gaining all those caps in an era of very average England players.

Interesting to hear David Silva is also having a farewell game for Spain next week.
He will be presented to the fans and will wear a suit while he kicks off the game before heading for the stand.

That’s David Silva the World Cup and 2 time Euros winner

Re: Wayne Rooney to have farewell match for England
It's only happened because he moved to DC United. If he had stayed at Everton or gone elsewhere nobody would have spotted the opportunity to do it.

Re: Wayne Rooney to have farewell match for England
Premier league great

International level Euro 2004 aside very average. Never performed in the world cup

'Yeah but he is the leading goalscorer'

5 goals in major tournaments, most of them were against minnows in qualification

Re: Wayne Rooney to have farewell match for England
ridiculous. shows the farce that is the FA. Just like beckham in the end he was getting caps to support his brand

Cant think this has anything much to do with Southgate- why or what does it gain him. Pure FA spin/bums on seats

Re: Wayne Rooney to have farewell match for England
the FA should have just booked him a couple of granny brasses, he'd appreciate them more than this joke of a game

Re: Wayne Rooney to have farewell match for England
Dean Saunders just made a good point , if it’s a charity match (not a friendly) then get Harry Styles up front if you just want bums on seats.

Re: Wayne Rooney to have farewell match for England
This is like giving him an England testimonial, and that is just fucking ridiculous. The bloke stopped being a proper England player years ago and this just should not be happening. Shame on the FA and the geezer in the waistcoat.

Anyway he doesn't deserve any kind of honour as he achieved fuck all for England. Yes, he scored plenty of goals but most of them were in meaningless games. When it came to the stuff that mattered he went missing.

Money, money, money.
What a stupid idea. Hell lets get Beckham to redo his turn as a deep lying "quarterback" too.

Re: Wayne Rooney to have farewell match for England
What Sir Alf says.

2006 could have been his stage. To be fair he was recovering from injury.

I'd rather see Jack Grealish given a chance. Ronney's the past.

Re: Wayne Rooney to have farewell match for England
Read my 2 posts. I have NOT said he is a Ronaldo, a Messi, Maradona, etc. What I am saying is he was way better than just being 'good' as his record clearly states. Only a fool would say otherwise. Sorry if you think that is being 'disrespectful' You ever heard of KUMB?

Re: Wayne Rooney to have farewell match for England
Once superb player actually playing very well in his "retirement".

Big fat American bums on seats
Charity cash
Pancakes

Pretty harmless isn't it? If we're playing the USA already anyway? Some people get angry about Everything.
