Laptop help neededplease
I have a Dell Laptop here that is Windows 10, and it has a problem. It keeps disconnecting from the internet (wifi) . I have updated the drivers (I think) and gone to control panel, Network and Sharing - Change Adapter settings - right clicked on Wifi - clicked on Wifi properties , Configure and clicked power management , as it seems to switch off internet when idle. true to form this has not improved issues, can anyone advise potential problem that may be causing this. it is fine if you are on one tab, working on that but if you start opening new tabs searching etc or leave the f**king thing by itself for 5 minutes you come back and the internet is off. Connection is kosher and good speeds no worries there, thanks in advance and just to preempt comments , knob has been wiped on screen

I think with Dell's hokey custom firmware wiping the keyboard with your knob and then slamming the lid on it should do the trick.
If you are female a friend's knob will have to do.

Have you tried wiping you knob on the router too?

If that fails wipe you knob on the internet. Better safe than sorry!

Could be a noisy environment - do you have any other electronic stuff nearby?

Do you have the same problems with a wired connection?

While you're in your router, consider changing the password - if it's at the default setting/something simple it may have been hacked.

Go into your router settings and set wireless channel to auto

Yep, you maybe want to look at your router. Give it at least five minutes without power and try again.

SoS,

When was the last time you rebooted your router? if you have never rebooted it give that a go as they do benefit from being rebooted periodically

Does the WiFi go off suddenly when your Mum comes in the room? Perhaps you accidentally installed the Mum/porn abort feature.

You need to wipe your knob over both screen and keyboard when using Dell equipment.

Dell may have installed there own power management app as well, if they have you need to disable the power off of the Wifi there as well
