A Bridge Too Far
Just starting on Channel 5. That's me sorted for the afternoon.

German: My general says there is no point in continuing this fighting! He wishes to discuss terms of a surrender!

Major Harry Carlyle: We haven't the proper facilities to take you all prisoner! Sorry!

German: [confused] What?

Major Harry Carlyle: We'd like to, but we can't accept your surrender! Was there anything else?

"It Never Snows in September."

By Robert Kershaw. Good Book written from the Gerry Perspective, about the botched Op.

Got a spare copy if anyone wants.

Reading the Book at the mo.... saw it when it first came out in one of the big London Cinemas with the old man... VIP's of all the old Paras and soldiers from XXX corp along with Dutch resistance... one of the longs films that actually had a cinema interval break in it (James caan getting arrested scene)... still my fav scene along with the initial jump scenes was the crossing of the Waal by Captain Julian Cook and the 82nd.... never a braver action by any troops in WW2 for me...

Can't see the connection with mediocre war films and Christmas.
Tonight my lot have fucked off out to a do a few doors down from ours.
First time I've not been mobbed by loads for days and watched love actually with a couple of glasses of port and a cheese board with the fire on and the mutt on me lap.
Proper boxing night.
Laters x

Cracking film.

There was another version made in '46 using some serving and recently demobbed soldiers that's worth a watch too, can't remember the name of it.
