Some really good stuff on Billy Connolly on the iplayer must be the best British comedian of all time 76 years old incredible.
Not much he ain't done a true genius.
A comical master,an immensely talented folk musician and a renowned travel journalist.
Loads of his stand- up leaves me in tears I've got nothing but admiration for the way he's coping with Parkinson's.A top,top bloke.

Re: Billy Connelly
I see him as one of those naturally funny and entertaining blokes who you would love a beer with but is a poor comedian

Re: Billy Connelly
I’ve always enjoyed watching him on stage, in chat shows and his travel programmes.
The main thing though is that I think of him as a really nice bloke.

Jon Lovitz was great in Seinfeld, a very funny bloke

Re: Billy Connelly
I should of stated this earlier.

The wiping the floor with comedians comment, was more aimed at the British comedians, rather than the yanks.

Id still prefer having a beer with BC, though. As funny as the American comedians are, they would probably still annoy the fuck out of me in person!

Re: Billy Connelly
The one bad strike against Billy, he laughs like a drain at his own jokes but I forgive him for that

Re: Billy Connelly
Billy did observational humour just like Jerry Seinfeld

100% agree.

I just watched a short clip of this Joel Dommett, but I couldn't manage to watch all of it. How do people like that actually get a gig, or get away with performing in front of audiences? It must be safe handpicked TV audiences, because he's about as funny as arse cancer.

Re: Billy Connelly
He's not a comedian.

He's a very funny storyteller. The sort of bloke who if you was down the pub with, would be hilarious. He has a lot of character & personality.

A lot of comedians nowadays can be funny, but its more contrived - they haven't got the character or personality to be naturally funny. Go down the pub with them, and more than likely they wouldn't be half as funny.

I remember watching 'I'm a celebrity, get me out of here' one year. Joel Dummet was on there (who?! I hear you say!) He's a comedian, allegedly. He was a nice, likeable bloke, but in no way funny. Without blowing my own trumpet, myself or most on here would of been funnier.

For natural character & humour, Billy Connolly wipes the floor with most of today's "comedians".

He’s a great storyteller, which most modern day comedians are.

Re: Billy Connelly
The program he did recently was quite moving I thought.

Seems like a good bloke. Sad the way Parkinson’s has got him.

Re: Billy Connelly
Have to admit I find his stand up's more of a belly laugh than laying on the floor with a stitch.... but I love his travel shows... always top notch...

Re: Billy Connelly
Can't disagree with some on here - he's not particularly funny as a comedian. Nice bloke though.

Re: Billy Connelly
I don't think Billy is a nationalist, he doesn't want Scottish independence?

Russ of the BML 10:36 Thu Jan 10
Billy Connelly
For a nationalist jock who supports Celtic and I know deep down probably hates the English.... I find him quite endearing.
