Prince Philip car crash

I don't know much about it at the moment, but this may be the trigger for retests for elderly drivers, long overdue in my opinion.

Can't believe that there is a thread of 100+ posts regarding whether a member of the Royal Family wears a fucking seat belt or not...

Surely all cars make an immensely irritating beeping noise if you don't have your seatbelt on? Which means it was either disconnected, the Duke is totally deaf so he can't hear it, or he thought the beeping was something else! (Allegedly)

No we don’t, not a penny. We are MASSIVE beneficiaries from the Crown Estate. They fund us through an effective tax of nearly 100%.
I am neither a Republican nor a Royalist but I think it is misleading to suggest that the Monarchy ( at a personal level ) makes a massive contribution to our financial well being.
The Crown Estates represent lands and property that the Monarchy have "acquired/taken" throughout history going back to around 1066. The Crown Estate is valued at approx +£11bn. The "Estates" are various and different in type, for example, include the entire sea beds around our country and property such as most of Regent Street. Since the reign of George III the Crown Estate's management have been given over to the Treasury. In return the Sovereign receives a grant of 15% of the annual profits generated by the Crown Estate ( The Sovereign Grant is over £40 million per year) The Queen herself in addition to this annual income is estimated to have around £300m in personal wealth and property Buck Hous, Balmoral etc.
Whether or not you think the Monarchy is good value or not is a separate argument but if they didn't exist the Crown Estate/Treasury would be £40+ million a year better off.
Not surprising the Duke picked up a new car the next day was it. :)

Genuinely baffled why anyone WOULDN'T do their seatbelt up tbh.
Unless you're literally moving your car 10 feet in a carpark or something.

Available at petrol stations in Greece..a seat belt clasp that you plug in to the seat belt latch so the car stops telling you that you should do you belt up...this from eBay China https://www.ebay.com/itm/Universal-Carbon-Fiber-Car-Safety-Seat-Belt-Buckle-Alarm-Stopper-Clip-Pair-Clamp/322886293769?hash=item4b2d85d909:g:7tAAAOSwAaJaDQJX:rk:1:pf:0

That will be a bubble exhibiting Germanic charm then
Personally, I would initiate a damages claim, descretely mind and seeking sttlement with a confidentiality clause, never can tell what might happen when you are in a car and have pissed off the Royals
Just awaiting that Meghan bird taking delivery of her new wheels, gift of the bubble

Not really clear at all, is it.
The article very carefully avoids saying the Prince was seen driving without a seat-belt on a public road. Almost certainly because he wasn't seen driving without a seat-belt on a public road.

Not all all. The BBC report says 'near the entrance to the estate'. They admit they don't know whether the Sun or the Mail pictures show him driving on a public road.
He may have taken off his seat belt as he entered the estate. I have no fucking idea. And nor do you.

‘Entering the estate’ Yes, not clear whether you enter things from the inside or the outside
He is in the clear! Case dismissed

I read the bbc report which said the Mail & the Sun had pictures which appeared to show him driving near the estate
Did the Mail & Sun say different? I take your word for it

The BBC report says, 'near the entrance to the estate', it doesn't mention which side it was on. The other reports say 'pictured entering the estate', again, no picture of him on a public road.

Where did you read the report? The newspaper who had the photograph as an exclusive expressly stated that they had no idea whether he was wearing a seat belt on the public roads.
Post up a link, there's a good lad.

I wasn’t there Just read the report that he was driving without wearing a seatbelt on roads near the estate. 2 days after he almost killed someone by pulling out into traffic. We pay for a lot of staff for him and his wife. Can’t someone take his keys away before he kills himself or someone else?

Dunno, mate. The story, an exclusive, I read expressly stated that they didn't know whether he had been wearing a seat belt outside the estate. Do you have different information?
