Feb and March fixtures and our hopes...
February is going to be an exercise of backs to the wall v Liverpool and Man C and try not to concede too many.

Palace could turn out to be a tricky one as they're a bit like us, shit one game then very good the next.

My prediction 4 pts.

March, however, should be December Mark II. We have

Newcastle - Home
Cardiff - Away
Huddersfield - Home
Everton - Home

I'd be disappointed with anything less than 12 pts but games aren't played on paper and we seem to be in a mess at the moment.

My prediction 8 pts

Fair enough. That is your view on it, I am not ready to call it.

Wolves, themselves, went winless in six, with losses to Hudderfield and Cardiff, they managed to pull out of it.

We will see what happens.

(Racist? Just kidding)

And apparently nothing to argue about giving up on this season not being helpful to next years FA Cup. So why do it?

Am I missing something? Do we not play Fulham this month as well?

Absolutely correct 22nd February.......we should win that.....shouldn't we?

We do need to make some hay these two months though April is tough.

I hope you are right but 4pts from the Mickey's, City and Palace is a win, draw and loss a tad optimistic me thinks. 8 pts from the next 4 games is more realistic 2 wins, 2 draws but, you can see a loss in there.

We can argue about how much we tried but the reality of it is that giving up on this season is not going to help our FA cup chances next year.

I think it will harm it.

Re: Feb and March fixtures and our hopes...
loc would help if actually tried to win the fa or carabao cup rather than put out a reserve team every year

4 weeks ago I was starting to think we could possibly aim for a Europa spot and attract enough talent in the summer to make a reasonable fist of it (i.e. still in at Christmas).

Since all the wheels fell off I have gone back to thinking that competition is still at least a season away.

We miss The General above all else - with the stability he brings we can worry less about the disruptive influence a person from the country that also gave us Adolf Hitler brings to the squad.

The better club, the better squad we have the better chance we have to win the FA cup.

In the last 30 years, 3 teams outside the regular top six have won it.

I would like better chances than that.

Even if we got/get nothing tangible out of it this season, it means we didn't limp to the finish.

If we are looking to continue to build in the summer, this builds some momentum under Pellegrini. It would say his system is still working with "smaller" club and we can build on that.

What does seventh get us?

Well for a start it must get some reasonable performances, better than lately, gets us over the fifty points barrier, means we have a better goal difference etc.

Coming seventh should mean that we are the best of the rest and hoping to be more competitive with the top six.
