Re: Maxi gomez red card
He is in a very poor team over there though, not watched any of celta but cant imagine they’re creating an awful lot for him,

Piatek was the one i wanted to sign, not sure we were ever in contention for him but he’s bagged 4 or 5 already since joining AC

Re: Maxi gomez red card
The Uruguyan Kevin Davies doesn´t sound good agreed, still I would take it over JustAFatKevinDavies.

Vickery is a fucking minge and no mistake but he was correct with the awful cunt that was Jonathan Calleri. Or Jonathan Caller ID as my phone insists on calling him.

“He’s (Balbuena) a no-nonsense, big, physical defender but I’ve come to the decision over the years that centre back is the hardest position to adjust to coming straight from South American football to the Premier League,” Vickery told talkSPORT in the summer.

“Some even better defenders than Balbuena have struggled with it a bit, I’m thinking specifically of (Gabriel) Paletta who came into Liverpool and really didn’t do well at all but ended up in Italy and doing so well that he played for Italy.

“Balbuena has been with Corinthians who are a very, very organised team… I’m a little bit worried for him taken out of that context, I’m a little bit worried that he might be a bit too ponderous in the Premier League.

“He’s not the quickest… he may just get found out a bit.”

Re: Maxi gomez red card
Tim Vickery massively bigged this bloke up, saying he's well suited to English football.

Which is what is making me wary.

Che Adams at Birmingham may be worth having a look at in the summer as well as a squad player with potential.

Sven
Thats a tad unfair, and I admit i like the bloke and listen/read his work
On Balbuena he said that he slow and could be turned, but was brave, solid, good in the air - a natural leader who needed legs and the PL would not physiacally daunt him
On Anderson he said an archetypal WH signing who the fans would love. A briliantly tallented player who drifts out of games and was a one in three player
He was bang right on Lanzini too, of whom he reported prior to our signing him.
I guess his being Spurs corrupts his opinion

Tim Vickery on ...
Balbuena: too ponderous for the Premier league
Anderson: too lightweight for the Premier league

Top work from the Spurs fan

Plankton

It may be the merlot, it may have been the walk through the woods with the hounds, likely I am just not up to the task

Wasted on me I concede

If Tim Vickery doesn’t think ,ugh of him then that’s got enough for me. Let’s sign him up.

Re: Maxi gomez red card
I can't blame Ray Stewart for getting sent off at Anfield in 1986, after getting one card for the "foul" where Paul Walsh dived, and another for dissent, as it was such a shit decision.

So I can't judge this without seeing the incident which led to the penalty award
_______

Astute - brilliantly done, but probably wasted, :)

Re: Maxi gomez red card
Don't think he has scored a goal since we were linked with him.

I can't remember if it was Tim Vickery or some Spanish football expert but they described him as the Uruguayan Kevin Davies!

Another player whom the twitter brigade are urging us to sign without really knowing if he is any good aside from seeing a couple of clips on YouTube.

Cartis, interesting, imho €20m worth a punt maybe, but will probably end up at another La Liga team as he has some form there, assuming Celta go down.

On what i saw today ,not much I'd admit , but for someone who's asking price is €40 million he showed absolutely nothing.
He looked a million miles from being ready for the premiership.

As i said possible down to he knows hes fucking off and couldn't be bothered.
Id hope we'll be having him watched at Every game until the end of the season before finalizing any deal

Re: Maxi gomez red card
Do people think we’re going to still sign him in the summer? I just can’t see it, if we wanted him we would have met the release clause in January. I feel he will disappear off the radar in the same way Leander Dendonker, William Carvahlo, Carlos Bacca, adfinitum have historically done.

Re: Maxi gomez red card
We know Arnautovic has to go so we have about 4 months to come up with a replacement
Hopefully we are working on a shortlist now and don’t have all our eggs in one basket.
No excuse not to have someone lined up come the window opening with some tapping up.

Good to get an opinion of him from someone who's seen him live. I've only see Youtube, so obviously have to reserve judgement a bit, but I wasn't impressed at all with what I saw.

J.Riddle 7:59 Sat Feb 9
Re: Maxi gomez red card
Cartis, I didn't know of him until we were linked, had a butchers on YouTube and have to say I was not impressed. Can't judge someone on YouTube of course, but going by what I saw Celta could be about to pull our pants dowin for the large sums mentioned.

Re: Maxi gomez red card
Persistent arguing over a penalty award.
I was at the match , have to admit its the first time I've seen him live and he didn't impress me one jot.
Hes not particularly quick, his first touch is questionable and he was knocked off the Ball far too easily.
Maybe hes like Arnie knows hes going and doesn't give a fuck.

Worryingly poor today though.
