Messi’s 50th hat-trick
|
https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=praPL6d8BIs
Messi scored his 50th hat-trick against Sevilla today. His 650th career goal. 54 goals behind Pele’s record for Santos now.
His first goal (link above) was a bit good. His second was special too.

You're right...mostly
It was always possible to give the big two a game and regularly give them a fright and scare and even beat them at most other Spanish clubs.
The last 15 years have been horrible...for many reasons.
To regularly see teams who used to make them sweat regularly getting thrashed by 5,6,7 sometimes more goals has in my opinion made the league a bit Celtic/Rangers at the best of times.
Messi and Ronaldo are great but a fairer distribution of the TV money would at least make it more interesting as it was in the 90's/early 00's

One footed - but what a sublime left foot. Try to see grainy b&w footage of the Hungarian 6-3 demolition of England at Wembley. Especially the drag back, can't remember which goal, where Geoffrey Green described Billy Wright's attempted tackle - "like a fireman rushing to the wrong fire", Ah well, back to me cocoa.
Hahaha, nice one, enjoyed that

No one will come close to Messi after he retires... it's the same with Ronaldo
Just as well really... it's means that in future the Spanish league might be more competitive once again...

Can he play left back?
For different reasons, Leo Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo are the greatest ballers we (or I) will ever see. One has astonishing vision/talent. The other, a supreme athlete.
Only Frank Nouble comes close

Not normally one for Spanish football, but that Suarez assist followed by the chipped goal - incredible players.

Thanks gph - the goal that I was referring to was Hungary's 3rd. Remember watching this on our neighbour's TV. They were pretty scarce in those days - I was 5 years old. Seem to recall that reception was improved by sticking the aerial in an empty Johnnie Walker bottle - happy days !

Worth mentioning that the Betis fans gave him a standing ovation after his third goal, with many of them chanting his name. They had just witnessed genius and they showed their appreciation.

Another hat-trick tonight (51 career hat-tricks now). In a 4-1 away win at Real Betis. 39 goals this season. 656 career goals.
His third goal was sublime. Link below.

He'd be 3rd on my list, colly.
In terms of English players, Paul Scholes all day long. A joy to watch.

In terms of who you’d pay most to watch, for me it has to be ronaldinho in his pomp. Ridiculous talent.

Why I pick Zidane over Maradona, he could score and make goals with either foot and he could smash the ball with his head, the only other player like that was Pele
