John Walters of Stoke in a heavy defeat against Chelsea. Two own goals and one missed penalty. That's one bad day in footballing terms. The first OG was a cracker of a diving header.

One of my all time favourites was when Mike Doyle dive headed Paddon’s cross (Paddon had just been swapped for McDougall and was making his debut) into his own net, I was in the South Bank right behind the goal that day:

Steve Bould scored a beauty for us.
Steve Walford with a pass back from the halfway line against Southampton, McAlister managed to keep it from going out for a corner, but only for it to end up rolling across the goal line, and the ref gave it as a goal.

Over about fifty years of playing at very low level, I've scored two.
My favorite was the one the keeper apologised for, as he really shouldn't have let such a soft back pass through. In the days when they could pick up back passes as well.
My least favourite was all my own work.

Us at Filbert Street during McAvennies second stint. Punt upfield, Leicester centre half running towards own keeper with ball under control, Frank a good 10 yards behind so not really any pressure, Leicester defender lobs own keeper from 35 yards out with attempted back pass.

Big Bob Hazel for QPR against us many years ago.
Corner to us. Hazel, a defender, rises high and wallops the best header you've ever seen into the back of his own net. Would have done the finest striker proud. The look of dejection on his face added to the goal's overall appeal.

Not an own goal but my company had season tickets in the directors box over arsenal. My brother in law was an arsenal season ticket holder and I took him over there for willie Young’s debut v West Brom.
He got the ball by the corner flag and Jennings came to the edge of the box and instead of rolling it to him tried to chip it into his arms, cleared him by 20 feet and a bemused cyrille Regis rolled it into the net. Complete silence apart from myself who was still laughing on the train home

Does anyone remember Steve Gatting for Brighton? At the Boleyn, lobbed his own keeper (John Keeley?) from about 25 yards, hit the underside of the bar then over the line, Jimmy the tree Quinn follwed up and put it in the net and may even have got given the goal but it was definetly Gatting's.

The Steve Staunton one was almost surreal, time stood still as it bounced out of Mike Hooper's reach, I was in the south bank and in a bit of a daze the entire match.
