Capitol

So you made stuff up, I ask for any evidence and you cut and paste one of your throwaway insults again.

Easily understood by most, I would think.

No one misunderstands but you snowflake. Funny to watch the gears click slowly in your head though. Mundane and predictable. Sure you’ve been told that before.

Done for the day on this off to have some real word fun.

But people on the thread need to really look up what the US indictment of Assange is, not what they wish it would be.

Cheers

"He was likely not in control of the situation as there was a sealed indictment already in place against Assange which was unsealed with his arrest by UK authorities."

"likely" - you are making stuff up which I proved wrong.

I told you the date off the mistakenly released sealed indictment already - from the court documents.

"It would have been a step too far even for Trump and Barr to intervene at this stage." But Barr will lie about a report that will be public at some point? Please.

And you made stuff up about more sealed indictment and indictments to come - (which again would be bad for Trump)

You long insults don't work when I can refer to actual evidence and logic.

You are surface's long-lost, even duller and even more pedantic brother aren't you snowflake.

He was/is obsessed with "lying".

This search for some sort of logical flaw in those you disagree with that can only be accounted for by explaining it as "lying".

What the fuck are you talking about?

Re: Julian Assange nicked
And again, why would Trump want this public furore, if he was worried about what Assange might know?

And this point flew above your head, as most things do if they don't fit with your preconceived ideas.

He was likely not in control of the situation as there was a sealed indictment already in place against Assange which was unsealed with his arrest by UK authorities.

It would have been a step too far even for Trump and Barr to intervene at this stage. That's not to say we won't see some attempt to obstruct the investigation down the road.

Still no source or explanation why you made things up, then?

Re: Julian Assange nicked

Of course you don't. You drag everything back to the media. As some sort of pedantic, sleep-inducing version of Trump talking about the media as the enemy of the people.

Anyway. You are doing it again here. As you always do. Which makes you a cunt. Which is why you get insulted.

I speak about a full post of evidence free throw aways and you give us a perfect example.

Again no comment or source on making things up?

Capitol Man 4:42 Fri Apr 12

So you are in favour of him being charged and punished, not with the thing you think he did wrong, but with something completely different. Just to get at him.

And again, why would Trump want this public furore, if he was worried about what Assange might know?

Re: Julian Assange nicked

Absolutely you dull little Snowflake. You don't expect to be taken seriously do you? You posts get the exact amount of respect they deserve.

Like this - you are not interested in the truth. You simply look for excuses to distract and justify your personal bias.

Again - you want to obsess on the media then start a thread about it. You want to talk about the subject at hand then do so.

Julian Assange's mother has accused Theresa May of using her son's "thuggish" arrest to divert attention from "her Brexit dog's breakfast".

Do you even realise you begin and end almost every post with a throw away insult. (Often there is nothing in middle)?

And you are obsessed with making excuses for biased journalism. Why is that? I would much rather be obsessed with truth than obsessed with how to be dishonest.

So no sources biased or otherwise on the stuff you made up in the post before?

(Some of us don't use Google, just for future reference)

Re: Julian Assange nicked

For me he crossed a line with the way the Wikileaks information was released - perhaps with the view that a Trump win would see him eventually walking out of the embassy a free man.

If he had received the information from the Russian hackers and simply put it out at once or even over a week or so, I think he would have strong argument that he was acting if not as a journalist, then at least a advocate of transparency.

But he didn't. He trickled out some moderately sensitive information that Trump was able to use to continue to feed the Clinton conspiracy messages that sustained his campaign through the late summer through to the election.

As a side note it's very funny, yet disturbing to see Trump gloating about Wikileaks and how much he loved it during the campaign using it what, 140-odd times at basically all his major campaign events in the run up to election day - then saying he knows nothing about wikileaks yesterday.

My god you are fucking obsessed with the messengers Snowflake. This house of cards you have constructed to ignore shit you don't like is frankly pathetic.

It contains direct quotes from a statement from the Russian foreign ministry. That is the point. It's funny imagining you cutting and pasting everything you read into google to see where it came from.

Seek some fucking help.

"The last few years have left me with less and less trust for western democratic institutions and their security services."

Can understand that, but I have the opposite view.

First, by democracy, I think you might mean accountability? There is an argument that in years gone by, it would have been easier for governance institutions to have clamped down on dissent and in that way taken their agendas forward. That's much more difficult to do today, even if it can make things very messy (Brexit in Britain, and Trump's shenanigans in the US). Maybe that's a good thing?

As for the security apparatus, in the past the UK always denied the existence of the secret security agencies. Today, they're still closed - of course - but there is a sense that they are accountable, e.g. through the Joint Intelligence Organisation/Committee. We'll never know how effective oversight is, but that's just the nature of that beast.

My thoughts on him have changed over the years, when I was quite partisan and I thought any aid in revealing state secrets should be punished (still think you need to be very careful, for people's safety.)

But I have become more principle-based in my older age, we are fighting such a losing war on truth in journalism, access to primary sources is vital.

Also we have to believe in innocent until proven guilty. And Assange should have trusted that many years ago and should be punished appropriately for not.

I'm in much the same position, he and Manning are accused of disclosing troop positions in Iraq and Afghanistan but it seems unlikely to have been of military use as by the time it was released it would have been out of date.

What I am wondering is what damage could he possibly inflict on both sides of the US political fence and what the connections are between them and UK/Aus/NZ/EU security services.

On balance, I think the world should hear what Assange and his detractors have to say and make up our own minds.

The last few years have left me with less and less trust for western democratic institutions and their security services.
