West Ham takeover rumours resurface
Cant see it anywhere else on WHO.

Personally im sceptical that this will come to pass, BUT.........

According to Claretandhugh, we may well be in consideration again by the Qatari Royal Family who want to add an English club to the stable, they currently run and fund PSG, so would be under a different structure so as not to breech FIFA rules.

A report in the Daily Telegraph that the Qatari Royal family are looking at the possibility of buying an English club has increased speculation that West Ham could be a target.

My feelings are. If the SPIVS ever got asked about selling. They would overprice themselves out of a deal. The only way we are getting rid of them is to keep up a constant protest pressure on them. It’s was the only way Birmingham City fans got rid of them.

Manchester though. Always been second biggest city to London. You can't even compare Manchester to Leeds. But I am sure you knew what I meant.

Eggbert the season Villa went down 16/17 their average attendance was 33,000 in a stadium that holds 43,000, ours at the Boleyn that season was 34,910 which was the maximum

As a mid table side our average is now 60,000, Villa and Leeds will never get anywhere near that, imagine what our draw would be like if ever we had a decent team

Those thinking that the Qataris are worried about saving the odd shekel don't really know much about them, that said I don't think there's anything in this as Sullivan has no interest in selling, this is all about ego for him

cheers Gavlar.

so i think it would be fair to say that they know enough about the area and its potential.
however spivs want a ridiculous amount of money for a club with very few assets.

Re: West Ham takeover rumours resurface
is it QSI that own all the land surrounding the london stadium?

The Qataris own the two International Quarter sites....office buildings between the stadium and Westfield and another site by the international station.

They get bigger crowds in the championship because they have a ground that holds more then the Boleyn did! How many would we get if we got relegated then performed well in the same league? My guess is 60k

Re: West Ham takeover rumours resurface
I think that’s part of the reason why they are looking elsewhere. Walking a weak league then getting knocked out of Europe at the first knockout stage every year has made them a bit of a joke within the football world. That’s why they are interested in the Italian league. Or a club from England.

As for City. The main reasons they got the nod was. They had just moved into the stadium. And close business links with Shinawatra.

If Qatari cinemas are anything to go by everyone at the game will be talking, eating a meal noisily and not watching the game

Re: West Ham takeover rumours resurface
Our fanbase is at least the same as Villa, I'd say bigger, Spandex.

Based on what?

Their crowds have ALWAYS been bigger than ours until we moved and even this season they are getting bigger crowds in the Championship than we ever did

I guess my point was if you did it in London, you have a harder time getting them to be that dominant global brand because they won't win every year automatically.

Also the guy who fronts QSI has been based in Paris for many years before he was asked to look into purchasing a club. That’s why they got picked

Re: West Ham takeover rumours resurface
Leroy. None of them teams are owned by QSI. As for buying a German team. The set up in the German League makes it hard for someone to come in and have total control over a club. With QSI it’s about projecting your brand onto the global stage. And doing it from Blackburn or Bolton ain’t the same as doing it from a major capital city.

Re: West Ham takeover rumours resurface
I understand the capital argument but Paris is a very different prospect than London, it is not like there are three other clubs regularly in the Champions League or at least Europe in the city.

PSG is it.

Roma and Lazio is a Man Utd/Man City like situation

Anyone for Hertha BSC?

Re: West Ham takeover rumours resurface
If the Qatari’s were to take over a English club it would be most likely be located in the capital. They had a choice of any club in France and went to Paris. They are suppose to be interested in an Italian team. And are looking at Roma. With QSI it seems money not the issue. But location is.
