Saturday football
MANCHESTER CITY vs TOTTENHAM HOTSPUR (1230 ko)
Sod’s Law suggests a goalless draw, but the anticipatory juices will nonetheless be flowing in the hope of a repeat of Wednesday. Pep will have a job on his hands to pick his players up, not to mention himself. But if he can do that, we can expect a rampant City side determined to remind the nation who’s boss. Home win.

BOURNEMOUTH vs FULHAM
Bournemouth are safe and Fulham are gone. There’s little to play for, although the Cherries will leapfrog us if results go against us today. Home win.

HUDDERSFIELD TOWN vs WATFORD
As above, although a Terriers’ win would help our quest for a decent final position. Draw.

WEST HAM UNITED vs LEICESTER CITY
It’s a sunny day and the temperature is forecast to climb to a sizzling 24C. Leicester lead the chasing pack and seem to have picked up some mojo since Brendan Rogers’ arrival. Our mojo, infuriatingly, comes and goes and there’s no telling if it will be there today. Speaking of absenteeism, Lanzini and Nasri are out, but Aaron Cresswell may return after his knee injury. Arnautovic should be back, but Hernandez has an ear problem. (What?) Much attention will understandably be on the tragic helicopter crash after the corresponding fixture (1-1) in October. On paper, this should be a close game, but if we play as we can the points should be there for the taking. In the words of our manager: ‘If we play the way we played at Man Utd we will win more than the way we played against Huddersfield, when we did win.’ Yep. Home win.

WOLVERHAMPTON WANDERERS vs BRIGHTON & HOVE ALBION
The wind is firmly in Cardiff’s sails leaving Brighton bobbing aimlessly in the doldrums – like the mariner of ancient times, ‘the ocean hath no blast.’ Although they have two points and a game in hand, Brighton have it all to do with a run-in that includes Spurs (A), Arsenal (A) and Man City (H). If, as form strongly suggests, the Seagulls get nothing from this game, there will be an awful lot of fresh fowl splatterings adorning the south coast in the coming weeks. Home win.

NEWCASTLE UNITED vs SOUTHAMPTON (1730 ko)
Mathematicians will insist that both these sides remain in the relegation mix. But recent form belies their respective league positions and all but the most pessimistic will assume that both are safe for another year. That should allow for an open, entertaining game between two battle-hardened teams and two managers whose considerable achievements are measured by survival. Draw.

CHAMPIONSHIP
There are no games in the Championship today, but a full programme yesterday saw leaders Norwich grab a draw at home to Sheffield Wednesday, while Leeds dropped out of the top two with a surprise home defeat to lowly Wigan. Sheffield United now occupy second spot on goal difference. Three games to play. At the bottom, Millwall gained a point at home to Brentford, which keeps them one place above the drop zone. Another full programme on Monday sees Norwich visiting Stoke (16th), Sheffield Utd at Hull (10th) and Leeds at Brentford (15th), while Millwall visit Aston Villa (5th).

I think Lamela is injured but he probably wouldn’t be in their starting eleven
Dier was on the bench
They have one likely starter injured

Re: Saturday football
Jamie Redknapp seems to think that a Spurs have an injury crisis as Kane is injured. Unusual thought.

We’ve just gotta keep all the shots fairly low down, cos as well as the shit Poundland turf, all the other shots seemed to fly 50 foot over the bar.
Prob dodgy acoustics/vacuum tunnelling systems/Beer-pump suction overload etc etc..

Place needs knocking down.

Re: Saturday football
Let's be honest, Brighton are a shit little club (who keep taking points off us) that play shit, negative, Allardyce-like anti-football who are a stain on the PL.
Hope they go down.

Re: Saturday football
I’m no Spurs fan but thank fuck Eriksen scored, that was utterly dreadful from Brighton.

They have not scored in their last 7 premier league games, Hughton would be sacked at any other club.

Would we put up with that?

N’er mind.
It’s all set up for US to be the first team to win there. And we will, next Saturday.

Brighton wasting time already, I fucking hate the way they play football.

Hughton is just a young version of Allardyce

Re: Saturday football
It looked ragged for the Man City game which I thought was Spurs not watering it against superior players
I’m sure the pitch contributed to Kane’s injury on that angled bit that Mrs Dalglish and the talking heads are standing on.
It’s dangerous not having a run off area of at least 30 yards. With a carpet on it
