Is Calling an English person a "Pom" racist?
Happens all the time to me here in Sydney, doesn't bother me but in this day and age is it considered racist or offensive?

Should others (Facebook,Twitter etc) be offended and outraged on my behalf?

If you go to the Morpeth Arms pub on Millbank and ask them really nicely they will take you into the basement which still has the cobbled underground jetty which led the Prisoners of Millbank to the waiting boat on the river embankment across the road...

Anybody who's spent tome in other cultures will quickly have realised that English sourced "racism" is pretty mild - virtually playground banter - when compare to that between other cultures/races on the planet.

Depends how thin skinned you are. Having grown up in the 60's I quite enjoy a bit of well intentioned, casual racism.

Sydney - i am wearing a bucket on me head mate - like the old times hero and legend of the lawless outback - Nedediah Kelly. I like to act up when ive had a bit scotch and go on a cozzer and pom murder rampage in an olden times outlaw of down under fashion, doivin off ayers ancient rock ike a mental alf from home & away shouting ' ya big flamin galaah' or like Micky Hutch on too many drugs and english pop groupies. Like a pissed up lebbo doorman.

I watched mad max the other night, and couldnt help but think that the entire cast descend from english and irish transportees who have handed down their weird fighting genes and fucken fuck offness mate.

Gibson looks like a fukken rent boy amongst them, with his soft anglo / new zealand ways.

Crocodule dundee was a fucken bonzer film tho in fairness ay

Whether you agree or not the rule these days seems to be you can punch up or at the same level but not punch down historically speaking

Offended by the term wog, they're not.

Curiously, however, the term has metamorphosed in the Antipodes. Greek, Italian and Lebanese communities happily refer to themselves as wogs and the term is general parlance for anybody from an approximately Mediterranean background.

A popular stage show, Wogs Out of Work, parodied Greek life and was followed up by a TV series, Acropolis Now. A film, Wog Boy, stars Melbourne comedian Nick Giannopoulos as a dole bludger battling the Australian authorities. Soccer is sometimes known as "wogball" in Sydney, as it is overwhelmingly played by southern and eastern Europeans. A "wog mansion" is a big, extravagant house with Corinthian columns.

Sam Pappas of Sydney's Greek Orthodox Association insists there is nothing particularly offensive about the term: "If it's used in a 'Come on, you wog' - as in 'Come on, mate' - way, then it's perfectly OK."

Nurse

They are what they are Nurse they are not that bad, as I said I do not mind they are not mental about it but they will not sit whilst I make comment after comment about how the old days were better and that people were not offended by every small thing I have done all that but when they went past 15 they began to talk with more depth and intelligence, you have a daughter too once she passes 18 you practically on occasion become the child and sometimes they can actually take charge of a conversation and you will sit back slightly red faced because actually maybe they are correct and you were probably just being an old duffer? it is like that for me anyway, less these days.
