The merit payment is derived from the TV monies payment, there would be no merit payment without the TV money. So one and the same then.

OK that makes sense, I stand corrected!

Spot on.

Silkman and Mackay rubbing their hands and soon to be joining Sullivan for dinner at his Essex bling palace.

"Davey we got a Champions League players available for nothing aside from a signing on fee, our 5 million fee and wages of 120,000 a week" , "The lads Valencia and Young can play until they are 40" "Dave you know it will make you look like a real big shot "

Technically that's not £126m from TV rights alone as it includes the merit payment.

So revenue is £126m from TV rights and merit payments.

It'll be interesting to see the overall revenue including gate receipts and merchandise etc.

I’m struggling to find where I said the £126.3m was a profit, but ho-hum.....

True branded. If a club generated more in transfer fees by selling players than the outflow in buying replacements, it would be income.

Doesn’t happen enough to outweigh the general trend of it being a net expense, eventually. But good point.

NET transfer fees and even then they are assets.

Re: West Ham earn £126.3m this season from just TV rights.
That TV money is income, not profit.

Profit (or loss) is the difference between income and expenses. The expenses incurred in earning that £126m would be players wages and transfer fees at least, plus a whole host of other expenses. And there's probably a few other items of income to take into account, like ticket sales, etc.

So no, it isn't profit.

We will see the boards true intentions this summer. They have the manager they have been after for a while no excuses if they do not get the required playing staff

I wouldn’t have thought that making profits was their goal. I’m guessing they don’t need the money. So, it’s far more in their interest to increase the value of the assets. This seems to have happened in spades.

I wasn't questioning the profit/s, just the presumption by some that they (the club) are not making any money/profit. they'll make even more once carroll and a few others leave the wage bill. I just hope they back the manager again and allow him to strengthen in the areas we need

Sniper, gate receipts are pretty inconsequential now but to be fair back when the OS move was first applied for the PL TV rights were about a third of what they are now, and had only gone up by 4% in the previous years.

2007-10: £1.7bn
2010-13: £1.77bn
2013-16: £3.02bn
2016-19: £5.13bn

I do think the Davids genuinely thought it was a good deal at the time, although more to sell the club on at massive profit than to drive the club forward. As it is the TV deal hasn't helped us in either respect.

The foreign TV rights are also on top of that, are they not?
