He wants to go to Valencia, if that's the case he can fuck off too. Take Arnie with you, you smelly cunt.

interesting with Gomez, as in Spain the news was that he wanted to stay in Spain and not bother with learning a language and all the effort involved moving again to another country.

Re: Summer Transfer window rumours/discussion thread.
This time next week I reckon Gomez will be a West Ham player.

Seems to have gone quiet on Sansom & Jordan.

Re: Summer Transfer window rumours/discussion thread.
I was thinking that as well.

He identified weaknesses in both players - and having now seen both of them play, it makes you realise that anyone with a pair of eyes who’s watched football for more than 10 minutes would probably come up with the same observations. Hardly insightful

He does say they’ll have difficulties though, which they obviously haven’t.

Re: Summer Transfer window rumours/discussion thread.
In fairness to vickery he’s spot on with Anderson really and as far as balbuena goes his concerns do make sense

Vickery was woefully underused at the Brazil World Cup and his page on the bbc site used to be a really interesting read. You don’t get much South American insight from people actually watching games there. Him and Dominic fifield are two journos I always make the time to listen to when they’re on

Re: Summer Transfer window rumours/discussion thread.
Tim Vickery ….
“He’s (Balbuena) a no-nonsense, big, physical defender but I’ve come to the decision over the years that centre back is the hardest position to adjust to coming straight from South American football to the Premier League,” Vickery told talkSPORT.
“Some even better defenders than Balbuena have struggled with it a bit, I’m thinking specifically of (Gabriel) Paletta who came into Liverpool and really didn’t do well at all but ended up in Italy and doing so well that he played for Italy.
Balbuena has been with Corinthians who are a very, very organised team… I’m a little bit worried for him taken out of that context, I’m a little bit worried that he might be a bit too ponderous in the Premier League.
“He’s not the quickest… he may just get found out a bit.”

On ANDERSON:
But surely the tricky and fast Anderson, who has proven himself in Serie A and Europe with a big club in Lazio, would get Vickery’s backing? Think again.
“Felipe Anderson, I haven’t seen a great deal of him since he moved to Lazio. I saw a lot of him in Brazil coming up at 18, 19, 20 (years-old) at Santos,” Vickery added.

“I have to say his success in Italy surprised me a little bit because if I close my eyes and think about watching him with that Santos side with Neymar the memory I have is the coach just constantly yelling at him because he was a little bit of a dreamboat.
He’s quick, he turns and spins very well, carries the ball very well, a lovely right foot, I think in a kind of 4,2,3,1 you could play him anywhere in that line of three backing up the main striker.
“Perhaps a little bit on the lightweight side for the Premier League, there’s a lot of ability here but this is a career-defining move for him.
“It’s going to be a big one for Pellegrini to get him to be consistent, there is talent there (but) if it was my club with £46 million I’m not convinced that I’d do it although he is in that great West Ham tradition of having those little flashes that get you up out of your seats.”

Re: Summer Transfer window rumours/discussion thread.
I'll let Vickery off with the Balbuena report, although I dont remember what he said. Must be tricky to gauge how a then 26 year old defender who has only played in south America will take to the prem. And his report in Anderson was that he blew hot and cold, but has flashes of brilliance, which isnt a million miles away from reality.

My concern about Gomez is that he appears to be a bit in the mould of Shitrovic; a big lump who holds the ball up, has got a shot on him, but no pace.

I'd like to get excited about someone who can run on to these magnificent through balls that Fornals is gonna be unleashing for fun.

I will assume Pellegrini has watched a second YouTube clip of Gomez where he looks a little more promising though.

Also - that Claude Maurice fella. Looks pacy, and can score confidently with both feet. Perfect understudy material to Arnie, who only seems to be able to play 70 mins, and only 2 of every 3 matches (or so).

Re: Summer Transfer window rumours/discussion thread.

Tim Vickery is one of the most well-respective journalists covering South American football, and he believes that the 22-year-old Uruguay international striker would be a good signing for West Ham.

Vickery on talkSPORT (5:33pm, June 15, 2019) when asked about Gomez to West Ham: “Get him in. Quite often with South American players, the first question that is asked is how they are going to cope physically.

"With Maxi Gomez you can say absolutely no problem. In fact, he comes with a warning for the defenders. He is a big bull-like figure.”

Re: Summer Transfer window rumours/discussion thread.
Seems to be a very well rounded player with all the attributes to be a very good striker, was hoping to see some more of him in the copa america but he’s probably not going to get much of a look in with suarez and cavani starting

Re: Summer Transfer window rumours/discussion thread.
After my extensive scouting of Gomez in January when I watched a 3 minute YouTube clip of him, I decided he looked shit.

Anyone seen this fella play in the flesh (tv will do) and wanna share scouting reports with me?

I could read those sort of transfer rumours all day. No idea about the player, but the story itself is so expressive.

"frowns foreign clubs"
"the game of bidding sets in"
"negotiate upwards for his jewel"
"none seem to be able to counter-attack with an offer"

THAT is how a transfer story, no matter how made up, should be written.

Re: Summer Transfer window rumours/discussion thread.
Lots of rumours going round twitter that Gomez has reached personal terms with both us and Valencia but that Valencia and Vigo are so far off on their valuation of both Gomez and the player they’re including in the deal that talks may have completely broken down

I’m happy to see Arnie stay, but he’ll want to be the main man again next season. He helped derail last season. I don’t want to see him acting the cunt again.

Re: Summer Transfer window rumours/discussion thread.
Are you talking about Tammy fucking Abraham? Do your eyes work? The bloke is a gangly shit version of Carlton Cole. Carlton Fucking Cole but expensive and without the loveability. Fuck right off you fucking fuckwit. Absolute toilet Abraham. Fuck off.

If you weren't talking about him please accept my apologies.

Che Adams ( Gary Monk just got the sack)

1 and a half transfer window without Sullivan dipping his beak in Sky sports have just worked it out. Breaking news my arse

Gomez will sign for us.

Mr Wendel has been told to button it.

Re: Summer Transfer window rumours/discussion thread.
99% guesswork from web sites , papers and media

We obviously register an interest in multiple options nowadays and agents, clubs and the players will talk and the chances of everyone getting what they want must be difficult. We are in the news a lot as first movers who want to get business done early so the media link us with everyone in the hope they get one right :-)

Gomez looks the most difficult and would not be surprised if he wanted to stay in Spain with Seville. But Husillos has a lot of experience in the Way the market works and has a plan B and C I would think. It seems to me that often works out better when a lesser known but developing player is brought in.
So it will all come down to Husillos and his scouting network ?

Much better than Sullivan’s network of Silkman and Mackay and Diddy Dave’s acceptance of old overpaid injured has-Beens that filled their catalogues. :-)

Re: Summer Transfer window rumours/discussion thread.
Vexed - two things.

Firstly, who said anything about only going with one striker? Certainly not me.

Secondly, haven't you heard of the expression "He may be a cunt but he's OUR cunt"? It's not as if he's the first or the last moody mercenary to play for West Ham. I don't mind selling him if we get a good replacement, but otherwise it makes no sense.
