I would suggest we are unbalanced. We have a second striker who is completely uncapable of playing our system. We have zero effective cover in defensive midfield. Two injuries from pretty shit IMO.

Re: Summer Transfer window rumours/discussion thread.
The squad is not unbalanced, we’re 2 DMs away from having a genuine shot at top 6!
We’re well covered in every other position, especially as we’re likely to play 1 up top!
You can argue all you like about the full backs but they’re ok and comparable with most apart from the top 4.
I think the lack of DM’s will bite us in the bollocks though!

Pellegrini seems content with a squad that still has a few wankers stinking out the place.
Perhaps he's had enough arguing with the dildos in order to get a bigger budget.
I can't really see much improvement in our league position with a still unbalanced squad.
Anyone who thinks we can break into the top six or seven is likely to be disappointed.

Here’s hoping C and H are talking garbage again about no money available and our business is all done:

From a supposed quote on Sky:

Pellgrini said: "Probably Pedro will return to Italy. I spoke with him last season. I told him that we need him in the squad and I cannot allow him to go to Italy but if things go well last season he will have the doors open as like every player. [If West Ham get a] good offer and the player wants to go - not a problem, we will replace him."

If I hadn’t got used to the special needs level of football knowledge spewed onto these message boards from various posters, I’d probably be surprised that I’m still reading that Oxford had a brilliant game against Arsenal.

He really didn’t. He did utterly fuck all. A few sideways 5 yards passes. The same performance from a 30 year old Slovakian national, for example, would have been immediately forgotten.

It's about if Rice gets injured ED would not want Fornals doing the sort of work Rice does really well, just want a more reliable back-up to what he does really well.

I want to see Fornals passing in and around the oppositions area or from just outside ours to start a dangerous break for us.

Oh look it's dreary descent missing the point because he's a thick cowardly cunt.

Er, we spent a chunk of our budget on a central midfielder. Just because you PLANKS haven't seen him play, doesn't mean he's not what we need.

No surprise I agree with you ( not the bit about those disagreeing being planks :-) ... its all opinions and we all get things wrong ).

Anyway I'm well known ( dreaded by many on this site :-) ) and apologetic for continually posting about the lack of physicality, pace , strength in central midfield , well midfield in general. I would like Pellegrini to show I and many others ( including you ) how wrong we are as we become like Man City or Arsenal of yesteryear where teams struggle to get the ball of us thus making the need for more than one defensive minded player irrelevant.

Problem is, even in the great Bilic / Payet carrying us season the same problem of teams over running or pressing our slow, ponderous midfield was evident. Its been the case for so long. In games against better teams now we will likely continue to do ok. They will believe they can take the game to us and will not sit deep with 2 banks of 4, play 5 in midfield versus our 3 or press us relentlessly like say a Brighton, Watford ( at our place) Burnley or Wolves did so well last season. When we have time and space the likes of Anderson, Lanzini, Snoddy,, Noble have shown their creative abilities. We know we can create chances. Haller may well convert a few more.

We also now have Formals which adds to the above and Yarmalenko too. But it just seems we have an over abundance of those attacking minded midfielders who
provide modest help defensively when we are not in possession.

There will be games where we will be bullied so I again expect us to get some good, eye catching results along with defeats to teams who we think ( fans, players, manager) we should beat.

Sanchez is this years Kovac. Perhaps we wlll see the return of that poster "BurnKovac" with a new moniker.

Snoddy will work hard as will Noble but Rice is essentially on his own again when it comes to dealing with pacy counter attackers running through our midfield.

But its all a waste of breath now as Claret and Hugh tell us we are cash strapped !! Apparently owners didnt mean 30 million plus sales they we could only spend available cash flows. I would love to see that cash account. 30 million pumped in ? Wages, transfer installments, loans all in the mix to confuse us all.

Why say there is 30 million and sales? Thought the owners might finally learnt about expectation setting especially after that Burnley game the season before last. They still struggle with honesty

Well at least we know the signings are real

On an unrelated note, is Declan Rice the whitest man ever?

(And that is with the club sending his family to Florida this summer)

haha hands up, as an older parent i do tend to look for the dangers and pitfalls in life nowadays and 52 years supporting west ham doesn't help that sad outlook, so my default is admittedly a little glummer than yours.
look, we've made a couple of incredible signings and you're right about certain players likely to improve and of course yarmo and wilshire will be 'like new signings'. in pelle we trust.

I tend to default to the positive, to a fault. So here goes with that in mind:

Defensive unit get better as they play together, they are not learning a new system or meeting each other for the first time, so overall I think you can reasonably expect an improvement there.

Diop is young and should get better a year on. He can and should improve in the air, his headers won is very low from someone of his size.

Not reason Balbuena should get worse at this stage.

I am not going say the CB backups are amazing but we have won with them starting in the past and there is competition there which is good, especially compared to years when we had people like McCartney playing there at points in the season.

Masuaku does scare me at times but again, with a year on in the manager's system. He might improve. And you can't teach pace. Cresswell was on the edge of the England team at one point and if Masuaku falters maybe we can see than again.

Which connects to the other side. Zabaletta is an amazing professional but we can improve on what he was able bring through a decent chunk of last season. We have two players with physical gifts who might develop. A risk but playing them we will at least be quicker.

Part of that is devil's advocate, but I think it is also not outside the realm of possibilities.

Vexed 4:32 Tue Jul 23
Re: Summer Transfer window rumours/discussion thread.
CB is probably where were best covered in the squad. We have five decent options there. Why would we spend there?

CM is where we're shittest, I would hope to fuck Pellers is sorting that rather than listening to you planks.

I was hoping GRASSHOPPER (not me) was being clever, so it's not really holding his hand is it, but it was instead giving him the benefit of the doubt, now he's clearly explained himself, feel free to cunt him off for picking Oxford over our current back-up centre backs.
