Wolves to install safe standing rail seats at Molineux
Wolves managing director :
‘I don’t believe the evidence supports a view that standing in football grounds is something that is inherently dangerous’

Well said that man

Standing is only dangerous with fences and lack of regulation as to how many people are in a section.

Do these seats get locked into place so that you can't sit on them if you want to, such as at half time?
I miss the old terraces, but these days I think I would rather sit...

Did you sit at Burnley Away, son?

In all my times at UP I think I must of sat down about 1% of my time there... normally at half time if I was hung over... otherwise all my time in the Chicken Run and the BML we stood the whole time... just like the majority around us always did.... MAKE A STAND NOW

Re: Wolves to install safe standing rail seats at Molineux
its allowed in the champions league i think.
so spurs fans are allowed to stand for CL games but not PL games (yet).

for me it would be a huge step forward for the london stadium, but i doubt anyone will pay for it.

theyve already installed it on their 'kop'.

spurs are definitely looking to do it

They have safe standing at Shrewsbury Town and it has been massively positive for the atmosphere and a lot of the youngsters like it

Don't the regulations need to change before safe standing is implemented?

Im not sure standing will become that popular TBH, its only really supporters over a certain age who can remember them and appreciate the atmosphere it would create, and many of us are getting on a bit and maybe prefer a seat?.
_____
well, given they balloted their fans and 97% of them said they wanted it, Id say the truth is, people wnat the option

we had it at spurs the other week- gave me great leverage to get up on th be seat a couple of times and not stck it like I usually do..

Re: Wolves to install safe standing rail seats at Molineux
We had a tour of that new N17 shithole a couple of weeks back before the game.

They had a section that is already installed as safe standing although clearly they are in seating mode at the moment. I had a good nose around when I walked past it and it looked fine.

As stated before, with the exception of one club - there is absolutely no H&S objection that can be justified against it, so its long overdue.

whether it will receive the widespread support from others connected in the game with power is another matter though and this is the issue

Re: Wolves to install safe standing rail seats at Molineux
The BML is basically an unofficial safe standing area already isn’t it? No need to even change the seats.

Re: Wolves to install safe standing rail seats at Molineux
There is a still a fold up seat with a rail in front of it so no chance of surges.
Celtic have it at the moment as do European grounds.
No one has died yet

Re: Wolves to install safe standing rail seats at Molineux
Never understood why grounds didn’t have an area like the chicken run all the way round that has access from the sides so no chance of pressure from behind

Re: Wolves to install safe standing rail seats at Molineux
Unless they get installed for free we’ve no chance of getting them.

Re: Wolves to install safe standing rail seats at Molineux
Maybe it will be popular, suppose price will play a factor as well, expect it to be very different to how i remember......like getting caught in those surges up and down the terrace as the crowd moved, some games you had to be pretty nibble on your toes! all it will take is one snowflake to fall and a compensation claim to knock it all on the head.

You’re very wide of the mark there, loads of people stand around the country home & away who wouldn’t have experienced the days of terracing.

Re: Wolves to install safe standing rail seats at Molineux
I think there is an appetite for areas where those that want to stand can stand.
And those who want to/have to sit can do so without people standing in front of them.
These rail seats give the best of both worlds. Its not unrestricted standing and completely safe.

Obviously a lot of the resistance comes from a certain club.
Whose fans stand on the Kop and everywhere else they go

Re: Wolves to install safe standing rail seats at Molineux
I disagree, Syd. I reckon the away mob and youngsters will want to stand and create a constant atmosphere.

Will we implement it? Not without fighting with the board and the LLDC.

Someone talking a bit of sense for a change.
Let’s hope the standing areas are introduced all round.

I cant see the younger generations liking it that much either, to many are snowflakes and wont like standing whilst playing with there phones or chomping prawn sandwiches, they will get sore legs and backs and will be all to much and tiring for them.

Going to be a niche market............
