The 2019 French Open, Roland Garros
... starts tomorrow. Men's field seems as narrow as usual, whereas any of the top 30 women could realistically win.
a look through some seed numbers ;

2 - Nadal ; hard to oppose, legendary record, and has an easy looking draw
6 - Tsitsipas ; with Zverev out of form, it could be up to the young Greek player to challenge the old guard
9 - Fognini ; like all Italians, much more at home on the red clay, and has good wins recently
14 - Monfils ; its hard to pick an outsider in the mens... the Frenchman may surprise a few.

and the women -

2 - Pliskova ; has shot up the rankings, and won the Italian open last week
4 - Bertens ; won the Madrid tournament recently, is now a top six player
26 - Konta ; Britain's best player is having a good year
29 - Sakkari ; strong and tough, the Greek girl is a good outsider
.

Er, didn't this finish two weeks ago. FFS, at least make an effort and start a new thread so that Sold can make his usual anti-tennis digs.

Agree on FAA. Great movement, good hands, anticipation, mentality.

He’s the real deal. Like Tsitsipas a lot, but FAA might be even better.

To be 18 and surge into the finals (Stuttgart) and semis (Queens) of your first ever senior grass tournament us quite incredible.

There’s a few youngsters who are anticipated to be the breakthrough player. One of them must win a slam soon, to break up the Fed Nadal Jok grip.

Felix; Tsitsipas; Zverev; Thiem to name 4!

Wankers like Kyrgios and the other Aussie have well and truly dropped away! OnlyAussie worth watching is De Minuer

Re: The 2019 French Open, Roland Garros
Wimbledon should be good this year with no clear cut player being the majority's choice for male or female champion. The programme should not be much affected by adverse weather either seeing as the two major courts have sliding roofs.

This mens final looks like a different sport compared to the dross served up yesterday by the Ladies.
Sensational tennis from these two.

Funny, I had a friendly set against Barty last year in Nottingham while offering some coaching to someone.

I won 6-1

There's nothing unpredictable about womens tennis. This final is predictably shit with the first set lasting just 28 minutes.
That's the fifth time I've said it.

Barry for the ladies though, good all round game with a nice backhand slice!

Re: The 2019 French Open, Roland Garros
Thiems great on Clay. Took one of the earlier tournaments, Barcelona I think, and has beaten Nadal a couple of times on clay. But when it comes to the French Open Nadal seems to reach a different level!

Love to see Thiem do it but I doubt it. Sooner or later one of these younger players is going to make a break through at a slam but the way the old boys are playing it might be a wait!
