Re: Great Memories
Thassit Stewey,

Can now remember a mate shouting out ‘Danny’ to wind him up in green st. after a night game and as he looked round, thinking he’d already made the big time, me mate said ‘nah, not you mate, I meant someone over there’.

Re: Great Memories
Richard Garcia went to Colchester & then Hull where he played in the Premier league.
Had a bad knee injury and ended up at a couple of A League teams in Australia before finishing with his home club Perth Glory a couple of years ago.
He also played in the 2010 World Cup v Germany.

Yeh, was there at UP. Took em to the cleaners.

Remember the crowd round the edge of the pitch by the chicken run near kick off. Think about 25,000 in the ground.
Weren’t Garcia gonna be the next best thing as well. Did he end up at D&R.?

Surprised we didn’t sign Chris Kirkland at some point after smashing 9 goals past him

Re: Great Memories
I watched that team whenever they played at upton park, for the final I was in the Brooking Upper. It was great to see them play so well in front of a packed stadium, Joe was on another level

Re: Great Memories
Watching them at the time apart from the obvious Joe Cole & Michael Carrick it looked pretty certain that Adam Newton would become a top player.
Had a long career lower down but looked much better than that as a kid.

Re: Great Memories
I saw Bertie Brayley play for Upton Park FC at West Ham Park. A match organised to commemorate the first ever FA Cup tie between the hosts and Clapham Rovers.

Re: Great Memories
There were high hopes for Adam Newton iirc, ended up with a reasonable career in the lower leagues and is now a taxi driver according to wiki.

Re: Great Memories
20 years ago !! Remember thinking at the time, that it was the start of great things to come.
Only three I can count that went on to have top level playing careers.
