Good news for EAH New Zealand just beat Northern Ireland in the Netball world cup. I wonder what the tie breaker rules are on that ?

Re: ICC Cricket World Cup 2019
To be fair in the world of Netball the Women’s World Cup IS the big thing in that sport.
And it is being played in the UK

Is there even a Men’s Netball league or World Cup?

BBC news yesterday had more female cricketers / ex players and pundits than men commenting on the final.
They even reported from a women's game who were using a soft ball.
Also making a big deal out of the World Netball championships going on.
They are obsessed.

At least it was a wide. A NB would have resulted in a free hit too.

The instant Archer bowled the wide, the commentary team were urging Morgan to get his arse to mid off and help Archer. Even Smith, who was brilliant in that last over. Think the last two standing were Smith and Nasser?

Huge balls, all the way around. Boult, Williamson, Archer, Morgan. I thought 12 would be enough, but what do I know?

Re: ICC Cricket World Cup 2019
Well if his first ball wasn't a wide they'd have needed more than that no? as they'd have one less run and they wouldnt have had that extra ball

Re: ICC Cricket World Cup 2019
I said before the super over, Joffra don't bowl any NBs and what does he go and do?

VirginiaHam 5:22 Tue Jul 16
Re: ICC Cricket World Cup 2019
England bowled 17 wides to NZ's 12. W also managed another in the Super over. That's a total of one over's worth of extra balls, plus we don't know what the extra ball went for. Add those 5 extra wides to the 4 byes Butler conceded and we would have been home comfortably. Wood managed 3 wides in one over.

As an example, if Archer's first super over ball hadn't been a wide, NZ would have needed 3 off their last ball........big difference.

It was 3 stumps, hence why the pie throwers were reasonably good at it.

You are correct.

Drunk from the night before, rained off games, quite a few times indoors. Sadly, never took part in one.

Hard not to giggle. The bowlers were usually crap (no run ups and drunk) and the bats generally prevailed bowling 30 mph pies.

Re: ICC Cricket World Cup 2019
As with stumpings and run outs the line belongs to the umpire so it was a wide. Inside the line = no wide.

No.

The lines for wides, are indicative, not fact, as in run outs and stumpings.

For what it's worth, I thought the call on Joffra's wide was correct.

Re: ICC Cricket World Cup 2019
VH - am I right in thinking that some domestic games (B+H / Gillette cup) used to be settled by a 'bowl at one stump' shoot out?

Or was that just after both days got washed out and the away side had sobered up after a night in the local Lintons Travel Tavern?

Yes, it did happen. Think Essex might have won one once. It was for rained off games and tied matches. 5 bowlers 2 balls each, as I recall.

You could bowl how you liked, except Trevor Chappell style of course.

What is/ was the point of all that fucking pop music blaring out during the game?

Re: ICC Cricket World Cup 2019
Can also say that the wide in the super over was a very very subjective decision from the umpire looked right on the line regardless of what Ian smith kept saying

As with stumpings and run outs the line belongs to the umpire so it was a wide. Inside the line = no wide.

It did make me laugh that some fat lezzer bowling out a malnourished Indian midget who couldn’t lift her bat was supposed to be regarded as equivalent to the ICC World Cup.

Did you take part in any of those - what were the rules - no deviations from usual pace presumably?

(though slowing down a quick would remove some rhythm presumably? Being (very) slow left arm I wouldn't know)

In the build up, it was 'England men's Cricket team are hoping to emulate the Women's team'

a) we won
b) I was there

Blocking the last two or three balls isn't 'playing conservative cricket', at least, not insofar as it would be dull for the crowd, which is all that matters.

It would still be absolutely thrilling.

Re: ICC Cricket World Cup 2019
Personally I prefer the World Cup to be decided by shooting the opposition captain out in the first over, rounding them up for about 180 and then cruising home by 7 wickets with dozens of overs to spare.

None of this double tie, fake run, countback on who has the most ginger players PALAVER

As soon as it happened I was thinking that from then on.. Its one of those freak incidents like that and Stokes bat diverting the ball away from the keeper for 4 overthrows, that can turn a tight game like that
