Frank Lampard Junior in talks to become Chelsea manager
With Sarri seemingly off to Juventus Mr Lampard is the leading candidate to follow in the ex-West Ham footsteps of Sir Geoff Hurst and manage Chelsea.

With Hazard gone and the transfer ban in place it could be a bumpy ride.
When was the last time a Champions League qualifying Premier league team appointed an English manager? Uncle Harry at Spurs probably.

I think they do
Defoe and Ince both made attempts to build bridges.

Lampard definitely does as it gets right under his skin.
Hence the things like the relegation goal and him talking about his experiences at ‘his clubs’ ... Chelsea , Man City ..... and Swansea.

Have you ever actually considered that none of these multi-millionaires actually gave a fuck what we think about them?

Perhaps the hate campaign could start to end with Mr Lampard saying that his statement he wanted to score the goal that relegated us was an insult to the club that gave him a start.
And to his father.

I always thought Defoe and Ince got far more abuse and more vicious abuse than he ever did and in hindsight both (particularly Defoe) acted with a lot more dignity and restraint than Lampard ever did.

My personal wish is that when he becomes Chelsea manager the press bring up his 9/11 evening activities and Trump demands his extradition to Guantanamo

This constant long running, often I’ll informed feud, that some have with Redknapp and Lampard get bloody boring. I for one think it’s a real shame that a bright young man with a great football brain and bucket loads of experience l, who once wore our shirt with real pride won’t get to manage us! It’s time to bury this ridiculous hate campaign. Had we had the same level of support for Bobby then none of us would have turned up at West Ham for god knows how many years.

Disagree mike there were a number of booers no matter, but Harry was right at the fans forum when sone nob head had a go, he did become a top midfielder and its a shame we will not be part of his future

Re: Frank Lampard Junior in talks to become Chelsea manager
the only booing/moaning at home was because of redknapp's habit of taking berkovic off and keeping the fat cunt on, no matter how bad he was

The lie is saying he wasn't jeered by a section of West ham fans when a teenager with us. Some thought he didn't deserve a start

He lied to the press that we jeered him on the pitch after he got injured too.

Re: Frank Lampard Junior in talks to become Chelsea manager
I only did a handful of aways each season in those days but that sounds feasible
But definitely at home the majority of any upset was aimed at Redknapp for seemingly never subbing him when he deserved it.
I’d wonder whether the actual figures bear that out and I guess Redknapps argument was that he was more likely to find us a goal.
Of course Lampard himself admitted he did get fitter and worked harder once he got to Chelsea. Which was my BEEF with him.
Of course that was also a probably unintentional criticism of Dad and Uncle Harry who allowed him to get away with less

Sven - I get what you're saying, mate, but it did happen. More so during away games. We were strong at home under Harry - so there was less hassle for the players at home - but we used to get pushed over on away trips too easily. Frank became the subject of some fans' frustrations at away games I attended back then. There's always a group of our fans who think we should win every game and therefore quickly get frustrated when we're down. Frank - son of the assistant manager and weightier-than-most-footballers as a kid - was an easy target for that frustration. I'm generally a bit laissez-faire about our fans - they pay their money to support the same team, so ultimately I'm on their side - but I did once have a set-to with one small group of fans over abuse aimed at Frank. It wasn't helping him - or West Ham - that day.

Agree with both of you on this.

Man U and Arsenal let in 50+ goals last season and finished outside top 4. Spurs and Chelsea conceded less than 40 and finished in champions league places.

If we can concede 15 fewer goals and score 10 more then 5th or 6th is achievable with Man U, Chelsea, Everton, Leicester, Wolves (maybe) and us all battling away. The one team out of that group who may challenge for a 4th spot is Leicester.

Arsenal had a great start to the season and it fell apart, will that happen again? Spurs are totally dependent on player turnover - they will lose players this close season.

Apart from Man City first game, we have a good start to the season and I think the 3rd to 8th place is going to be very interesting.

The Marketeers at the Premier League must be licking their lips, it is going to be an interesting season.

Absolutely agree mate. Apart from Man City and Liverpool everyone else are beatable. And within reach.

Re: Frank Lampard Junior in talks to become Chelsea manager
This is an old argument but my view from the time ....
I thought he was talented and had that enviable knack of being able score as a midfielder. But he wasn’t dedicated or hard working enough so wasn’t progressing
The only abuse I recall was of the manager for never subbing or leaving him out.
That wasn’t his fault
I honestly don’t recall Lampard being abused or people showing frustration with him any more than any other player

Mashed - don't get me wrong, mate, I joined in on occasion! Him going to Chelsea meant I threw all logic out the window!

Re: Frank Lampard Junior in talks to become Chelsea manager
Hey TM, we did in my view. The abuse he got from some of our own fans while he was a West Ham player was pointless. On the whole ppl let him get on with it, but the moment he mis-placed a pass or missed a tackle he'd get the inevitable, and weak, "only in the side because of his dad" crap. And there was all the stuff about his weight!

The reality was that he was one heck of a young player - and that showed when he matured at Chelsea.

Re: Frank Lampard Junior in talks to become Chelsea manager
Massive chance for the likes of us, Leicester and Everton (Wolves will do well to avoid 2nd season syndrome) to close the gap on the 3rd, 4th, 5th, 6th, places in this coming season. All four are in a huge state of transition at the moment:

Tottenham: Strongest of the four, but trying to pay for new stadium while trying not to disillusion there manager further by not spending.

Chelsea: No transfers, no Hazard, inexperienced manager.

Man Utd: Terrible manager prob to be sacked in December.

Arsenal: Apart from their front two, have a very poor squad.

I'll repeat what I've always said about Frank Jnr: I like him, we treated him very badly, he's a good lad, a bright man, and I hope he does well in his management career.

Just not with Chelsea. It was bad enough watching him turn into a superb player for them.
