Pablo Fornals - signed

West Ham United is delighted to announce the signing of highly sought-after Spain international attacking midfielder Pablo Fornals.

A creative, technically-gifted playmaker with an eye for goal, Fornals joins the Hammers from Villarreal, for whom he has excelled in both La Liga and the UEFA Europa League.

Fornals, who becomes the second most-expensive signing in the Club’s history behind Felipe Anderson, has signed a five-year contract, with an option of a further year, after undergoing a successful medical at Spire London East Hospital.

Just 23, the Castellon-born player has already made more than 150 senior appearances and will join up with Manuel Pellegrini’s squad after representing his country at this summer’s UEFA European U21 Championship finals.

We are a poorer team without him in it.. we are going to need the 4 attacking midfielders to really step up to the plate over the next 8 games

I really like him for multiple reasons.

But did I expect him to be better when we signed him? Yes 100%.

I think he will continue to improve but as said below he will never have pace which is always a disadvantage in the prem.

''For a club like us, we are fortunate to have Fornals, there are some moaning fookers who think we should have better''

Bods like you really are the worst kind of poster. Can't accept other posters opinions on a player, even if it's constructive, without calling them moaners?? In my book that makes you a prick. No offense, like.

Not sure how I could have forgotten to mention his significant lack of pace.

Re: Pablo Fornals - signed
The way I see Fornals is that he is good but he's not THAT good. He's an intelligent player who can pick a good pass and move the ball on constructively, but he does sometimes lose possession quite carelessly. He has loads of energy and closes down well but lacks bite in the tackle. His intelligence enables him to get into good positions but his finishing is very inconsistent. He seems like a really nice lad and a positive influence around the place. But if we want to be challenging near the top of the PL and in Europe, he's fine as a squad player but isn't good enough to be considered an automatic pick for the first eleven.

For a club like us, we are fortunate to have Fornals, there are some moaning fookers who think we should have better, but he’s definitely good enough for us.

And who can forget his goal against Leicester.

Great finish for once, shame he's so slow though.

A good player to have around the squad, and no fuss etc. Hopefully he can get better, as right now I would label him as an average PL player. Certainly no more than that. His locker is quite limited in terms of natural ability and hurting oppo's defences, etc.

like many players he has taken time to adapt to the PL but now he is up to speed he is showing what he can do. Fans these days want and instant hits like Coufal and Soucek but they don't all work out that way and some (Haller) dont work out at all.

Exactly the kind of player we require if we want to compete in Europe. Glad he seems happy here.
