Guardian Rumour Mill

Scott Murray

Bayern Munich have a cob on. They’re after Leroy Sané and Callum Hudson-Odoi, but nothing’s happening. They need to get a grip. The Rumour Mill wasn’t happening either until 10 minutes ago, due to an almighty rota cock-up. It happens.

Leroy Sané and Callum Hudson-Odoi are still not going to Bayern, as things stand. But here’s the Mill! You lucky people!!!

In other Tommy Trinder-related news … the internet kids can’t get enough of this … Arsenal still haven’t bought Kiernan Tierney, though they’d like to .... Manchester United don’t fancy packing off Romelu Lukaku on loan to Internazionale, preferring a ££££ deal ... but popularity’s Ed Woodward does like the idea of the midfielder Ilay Elmkies of Hoffenheim. However, Manchester City are also in the market for him, so.

Tottenham like the Saint-Étienne defender – and Arsenal target – William Saliba, while Crystal Palace are in for Nice winger and subeditor’s dream Allan Saint-Maximin.

To be honest, we owe you a click. But this is life. Come back Monday. Enjoy Friday!

West Ham fans are thrilled with reports youngster will sign a new deal

16-year-old attacker Amadou Diallo is set to sign a new contract with West Ham, according to ExWHUEmployee.

It is said that clubs from Spain, Germany and France made attempts to lure the promising talent away from the Hammers, but he has decided to stay put, as tweeted by ExWHUEmployee:

‏ @ExWHUemployee
Great news that we have beaten off strong interest from top clubs in Spain, Germany and France to get extremely talented youngster Amadou Diallo (16) to sign a new deal. This is a really positive move for the future and should be announced soon

It is always encouraging to see exciting young prospects coming through the academy, with hope always being harboured that they will eventually make it into the first team set up.

With foreign clubs often coming to scout at English academies, with the trend of youngsters moving abroad, it is a positive sign of the potential he has that there were suitors elsewhere.

The England Under 16 international is very highly rated within the academy, having made his Under 18s debut before he had even reached 15-years-old.

He has also made the step up to the Under 21s early and has played four times for them, scoring once.

This is a truly exciting talent who those at the club are happy to have been able to keep hold of, including the supporters.

West Ham losses to continue

West Ham lost £27m for the financial year encompassing 2018/2019 ending in May a plunge of £45.3m on the £18.3m pre-tax profit they announced for 2017/2018 season last December.

The previous year the Hammers announced a record pre-tax profit of £43.4m for the 2016/2017 season but now the figures are going in the opposite direction with losses now mounting again which needs to be tackled.

This current financial year which begun in June West Ham is forecast to lose another £42m if they do nothing about it.

The losses are off the back of the £89m spending spree last summer when Manuel Pellegrini joined as manager and it now appears that the Hammers are living beyond their means.

A club insider told Claret and Hugh “We lost £27m this year and will lose another £42m next year unless we are clever, we can’t keep just adding to wages/losses and we have more than 25 players at the moment”

West Ham target Aranguiz set to stay at Leverkusen

West Ham transfer target Charles Aranguiz is set to stay at Bayer Leverkusen this summer.

According to Sport Bild, Leverkusen are confident that they will be able to keep hold of the midfielder ahead of next season.

The report claims that it would take a massive offer from West Ham for Leverkusen to even consider selling Aranguiz, who they are eager to have in their squad for the 2019/20 campaign.

Aranguiz is currently playing in the Copa America for Chile, but is said to have spoken to West Ham about a potential move.

Despite his talks with West Ham, Leverkusen appear to be confident that he will still be playing in the Bundesliga next season, rather than the Premier League.

Aranguiz joined Leverkusen in 2015 and has made 84 Bundesliga appearances for the club to date, scoring seven goals from midfield. He has also been capped 74 times by Chile.

Man Utd and City in fierce transfer battle for ‘next Thiago Alcantara’ Ilay Elmkies

Exclusive Mike McGrath

MANCHESTER CITY and United are battling for Hoffenheim youngster Ilay Elmkies.

The 19-year-old has been compared to Bayern Munich midfielder Thiago Alcantara, who starred for Pep Guardiola in Germany.

And Pep's coaches at the Etihad want the teenager at the Etihad Stadium to continue his development after for years for his Bundesliga team.

He impressed against City in the UEFA Youth League last season but neighbours United also want the Israel Under-19 international.

West Ham are the other club who have shown interest in a player with just one year left on his current deal and could cost just £2.5million.

Hoffenheim risk losing him for training compensation in a year without a deal being agreed - and clubs are ready to swoop.

Staggering losses...hopefully aggressive depreciation of players/assets rather than real operating losses due to poor management...
Can't believe Sullivan would allow this to continue...

I've heard a bit about Diallo but never seen him. Too early for him to feature in pre-season with the first team squad? Or even an outing in the League Cup?
