The 2019 U.S. Open, Flushing Meadows
The final Slam of the year is perhaps the most open ; The last five years have given four different men's champions, and five different women's. Some seed numbers -

1. Djokovic - Federer's age and Nadal's injuries cement the number one spot for Djokovic.
4. Thiem - reached the final of the French Open, but not much since
5. Medvedev - in form player who just won the Cincinnati tournament.
9. Khachanov - the other Russian to break into the top ten, a good outsider
26. Fritz - new American hope is just 21, one for the future

... and the women ;

4. Halep - the Wimbledon champion
5. Svitolina - becoming a big stage player with good Australian and Wimbledon runs
8. S. Williams - lost her last three slam finals, and has drawn Sharapova in round one here.
15. Andreescu - the new teenage star for Canada, has just won the Rogers cup.
17. Vondrousova - only 20, reached the French open final, beating Konta in the Semi

Re: The 2019 U.S. Open, Flushing Meadows

Years since I watched tennis....
Seems like it's all gone baseline rallies...power serves...long rallies no net rushes...waiting for opponent errors...
Not the tennis of old...
Odd irritating OCD and timewasting habits by Nadal...must piss off opponents...
But good play by his opponent...

Hats of to Medvedev he pushed him all the way! That’s probably the toughest final Nadal's won!

I’m not a big fan of Nadal too many nervous tics and he plays too slow!

FED still the GOAT and always will be!

Has tennis gone very boring or is it just me. I have watched zero of the US Open, but glad to hear that Williams bloke bottled another final. Any umpires threatened?

Sven, what's gone wrong with Australian Tennis over the years? This is the country that produced Emerson, Laver, Rosewall, Roche, Newcombe, Cash, Rafter and Hewitt over the years??

Re: The 2019 U.S. Open, Flushing Meadows
That’s 4 successive Grand Slam final defeats for Williams so she STILL remains one title behind hardcore God bothering nutter Margaret Court.
God moves in mysterious ways!
