Rugby World Cup 2019 - The Land of the Rising Sun - 20 Sep – Sat, 2 Nov
Here we go again..... World rankings (what a joke) have Ireland as number 1 (Ichi ban) followed by the ABs, England, Saffas, Wales and the Wallabies.

https://www.world.rugby/rankings/mru?lang=en

No doubt in my mind the All Blacks are outstanding favourites though very occasionally beatable. To understand the extent of the ABs dominance, take a look at these scary stats;

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_New_Zealand_rugby_union_Test_matches#2010s

Of the chasing pack there was little to be read from the NH warm up matches though the all preparations England's appeared to be the most positive. How much that will count in Japan is impossible to say. The truth will out-come the 20th September.

As an Englishman none of the chasing pack hold too many fears on neutral territory. The Celtic nations tend to play up against England at home, they won't have that advantage in this tournament.

IMHO Ireland are a good team in decline, can they turn it around and get back to the team of 2017/18? On their day Wales can beat anyone but, they have taken over the All Black’s mantle of perennial chokers. Scotland flatter to deceive, will always give the top sides a game without enough in the tank to be serious contenders.

The big questions surround the Wallabies and Saffas, always strong come RWC time. The Wallabies, in particular, have made great strides recently, I’m glad they are not in England’s pool. Much prefer to play them once we are in our stride.

The Saffas will be at it, come what may. Not sure of their route to the final but, I would expect to see them in the semis at least.

England’s pool, for once, looks winnable. Don’t get me wrong, Argentina and France will be formidable opponents but, we have two good warm up games in Tonga and the United States to sort ourselves out.

If there is one game I am really looking forward to it the hosts, Japan, Vs Scotland Sunday October 13th, 11:45 KO UK time. The venue is Japan’s Yokohama Stadium. At 85,000 it’s the largest in the country and the game is sold out. I have two mates who bought tickets last minute at list price for £250 a piece. To give you an idea they also have ¼ final tickets for £100.

If you’re looking for a game to rival the famous win at Brighton’s Amex Stadium in the 2015 this has to be the one.

This has the potential of being the best RWC tournament to date. On neutral territory for all the big rugby nations…… I can’t wait!

Shame Eng vs NZ is a semi final. Winners will win the cup.

Predicted Eng vs Wales final at start. Still expect it.

Agree with East Auckland's comments earlier in the thread. I would go as fas as to say whoever wins that one will lift the cup. Neither Wales nor South Africa look a patch on England or New Zealand.

New Zealand look the most likely however, England played some very good rugby on Saturday and will present their greatest challenge

Well played South Africa but, good grief, they are dull to watch.
I quite like the Gong rather that the hooter. Every nation should bring a bit of national colour. My vote for the English hooter sound would be a swanee whistle.

QFs results a disaster as far as im concerned, I wanted the Kiwis, Aussies, Saffas and Welsh out. Anyone but the saffas at this stage. I would LOVE a England Wales final. I wonder who will the home fans be supporting?

Two observations.

This Japan side is exhausting just to watch.

That Reach fellow seems to be a fan favourite.
