I’d love to see that Davey. I have seen the reports and U23s are clearly on form. An on form youngster could spark something.

Someone mentioned Silva, not played on ages, he has something wrong.

3 CBs? We know Pellegrini will not do it and I agree with Pellegrini. The problem was not that we did not have wing backs. The problem was the wing backs were to slow. Pellegrini plays kind of wing backs and when they’re forward we just have the 2 defenders, you could say 3 if Rice is holding back. Pellegrini’s teams are actually very dynamic with players constantly changing position, even switching position between players. The problem in the last few game is no speed in attaching so we never catch out a well organised team that has essentially parked the bus, but left a couple of fast players to expose the spaces we leave when we push up our high defensive line.

Cheers davey I was going to ask if anyone had seen him play as I kept seeing his name on the score sheet, hopefully he keeps progressing he could have stumbled on his right position.

What I mean is he doesn't look on face value as any kind of player. Was struggling to hold a place down in the team as a midfielder.Had a few injuries and then got pushed into the role as a striker.Halajko sent out our only striker out on loan (Afolayan at Mansfield ). Halajko must of seen something in him,to risk playing him upfront with no other strikers around was a risk. It's paid off extremely well.
Scully has hit the ground running and suits all the players around him,he scores most of his goals in the penalty box.Always in the right place at the right time. He's been lucky too as sometimes his touch let's him down but recovers well and then snaps up a second chance to put the ball in the net. When your having that kind of luck/opportunism who's to say he couldn't just do it in the PL. But of all the players in the front 6/7 he's the one l would of thought wouldn't make it. But like a certain Harry Kane works bloody hard and is a team player.sometimes it just comes from outfield witht the odd player.

Johnson has been out injured for the last couple of months.
No one seems to know why.

Think Silva is ahead of him, but to be honest Holland has been super impressive for a while for the U23's and the first teamers in his position have been shit so if he cant get a look in dont think theres much hope for any of them.

Stick Ben Johnson out there and give him a run of games, because neither Cresswell or Arthur are the answer to the question.

Re: ⚽ West Ham v Newcastle- Official Match Thread
My point was more about pace and trickery and using wingbacks and 3 CB's as another option, especially Saturday as we couldn't break them down and get behind them not even once, hence Arthur and Frefericks.
I like Cresswell he'd a better defender in a back 4.
Did you actually watch the game?

Watched the 2nd half (when racing finished)…. Sorry Road son but if you think Arthur is the answer then we are in a real world of shit… as proven this bloke has virtually NO end products… Cresswell even though a better defender also has far better stats attacking …. Is it Arthur’s drag back that wow’s you Road son… he’s world class at that….

You think he has a chance or are there others ahead of him ?

Rossal 11:23 Tue Nov 5
Re: ⚽ West Ham v Newcastle- Official Match Thread
Scully was a right winger that couldnt really get in the side ahead of Kemp.

They then sent all the U23 forwards out on loan or theyre injured so theyve put him up top as they had no one else and he cant stop scoring and think he got a PL2 player of the month too.

Re: ⚽ West Ham v Newcastle- Official Match Thread
Pellegrini has lost the support and things are on the brink of being toxic again - if he has any knowledge of the club, blooding a youngster like Holland could go a long way to buying him some reprieve as we all love a bit of “play the yoof” at West Ham.

Daveyg why do you say Scully should not be in the team every time I read a match report he seems to have scored, I have never seen him play what type of player is he ?

"I posted about the U23's in another topic"

Seriously, daveyg, you've mentioned that we should use some U23 players?!

;-)

In all seriousness, yes, we should stick Holland on the bench.

Bring him on in a few games, for the element of surprise.

Starting him could be a bit risky though. A couple of bad touches and he'll be the worst player ever.

I posted about the U23's in another topic but again you only have to watch the highlights on the OS to see that they attack with pace. Holland,Powell,Diallo,Kemp and even Scully, who doesn't look like he should be in the team all have brilliant pace. The defending by both teams in the 4-2 over Swansea was poor but no different to our last game by PL teams.
They are winning and that helps confidence of course. But they have scored 4 goals in every game 5 games on the trott. They play a 4-3-3 with Powell an attacking force in the 3 midfielders.
Play them when in form,Southgate as England manager has said he plays in form players. Pellegrini drops Fredricks when he was showing his best form. for Zabaletta FFS.
Like I said before teams like Chelsea have young hungry blood in their teams. We need something likewise.
Pellegrini needs to do something different. Play a couple of them then if it doesn't work out send them on loan.
Pellegrini is cautiuos . Not playing any youngsters at the end of last season is costing him now.

Holland for Anderson is a no brainer

I agree Brentford, we need more pace, Fredericks and Masuaku would be a good start. However, we also need someone faster in midfield or forward. Any fast kids in the U23s?
