The first Berlin derby since the wall came down.
Union Berlin seem to be a club like West Ham used to be. Our owners should watch this.

Hitler's favourite film was When Hartson met Berkovic.
He found that extremely funny.

I'm pretty sure they played in the Cup ages ago.

I was in Berlin just before and there were stickers up about supporting one side against the other.

Odd, I thought.

Never seen stickers up about London derbies.

They’ve played in the Cup but not in the Bundesliga. Union, who like us are known as the Irons, are a fantastic example of a working class club which is close to and all about its fans- so the comparison with West Ham pretty much dies there sadly. We’re probably much more like Hertha. Perennially underachieving light weights who play in a huge soulless bowl which used to be the Olympic stadium. I’ll be rushing home from our match to watch the Berlin derby on tv- it’s at Union’s Upton Park like ground and should be a thriller.

A few years ago I went to see Hamburg v St Pauli which is a fierce local derby.
Apparently At Pauli fans have a strong left wing political following

Adolf Hitler didn't like football.

I think he only went to one match, and left at halftime because Germany were losing.

Goebbels was a fan, but I forget which club side he supported.

Based on vague memories, so might be wrong. Probably not, though.
