For anyone who likes a punt. I3e. Listed on aim. Made one nice oil discovery recently in the North Sea, about to drill another hole, which is highly likely to have a good result. Massively underpriced @ 35p. I'll be selling @ 120p....

Mortgage on it, stand on me, etc.

Re: Share tip
Alfs makes it sound like they have developed their own vaccine. They haven't. They're part of a consortium and would simply be allowing use of their facilities to mass produce the vaccine.

If that does happen then at least they'll stay in business. Otherwise they face, according to their own assessment, up to 30% loss in revenue this year and will probably go under unless they receive external funding.

There's a reason the share price hasn't improved despite their deal with AstraZeneca to produce any vaccine (which was actually 4-5 weeks ago, not a new thing).

Re: Share tip
I know this thread has been a disaster, but that OXB tip might be a good one. I assumed that hopeful expectations about a vaccine would have been priced in and the stock price would be high, but its price is about the same as 12 months ago. Either people have missed the opportunity to get in, or Oxford Bio have much more serious problems that are weighing the price down.

What investors forum is this?

Re: Share tip
I've been reading an investor's forum. Most seem tentatively positive.

From what I understand, they've been leaking money into R&D but now maybe about to reap the rewards. They have a few other drugs up their sleeve, too.

Re: Share tip
What I don’t understand is why Oxford Bio’s share price hasn’t risen in the last year.

Surely the prospect of a covid vaccine would have speculators piling in?

Re: Share tip
Don't shoot the messenger. I'm simply passing on what I've been told and have no insider knowledge whatsoever.

My ex-brother in law is an utter twat but he's also a well-connected businessman (former chairman of Taunton cider, sits on various boards, very wealthy).

He's heard that Oxford Biomedica will soon announce that they have a vaccine for COVID. There will be others but this will be the first and they can be sure on an order of 60 million doses from Boris.

Coincidentally, I live in Oxford and they're often featured on the local news talking very confidently about their vaccine so it wouldn't surprise me.

I'm going to put a grand in so you can all take the piss when it goes tits up.

I think I would be more likely to accept a pint of something that looks like beer in a plastic bottle from a tramp than I would accept financial advice from WHO.

I have just decided to go long multi-asset index funds

On average most managers will not beat the market for you after fees

The long run average of the world index is something like 8% . Fees are 0.09% for a tracker.

Vanguard have a good range. I went with HSBC Global strategy funds

I’ve started investing in crypto currencies. I’ve gone for XRP because of the use cases.

Would I offer it as a tip? Fuck no. If you’re interested do your own research and only invest what you can afford to lose.

Re: Share tip
Anyone have any good fund investment recommendations as I simply don't have the time or expertise to manage a portfolio of individual stocks.

I know Fundsmith has been mentioned here previously. Is it still worth staying in?

I've had a good run with Lindsell Train but it seems to have run out of steam in the last year.
