The reality is there isn't much you can do tactically without any pace in the team. Away from home you can't counter attack without pace, you can't lump it up to Haller because no-one gets to him and beyond him quick enough and with two up top the midfield is so pedestrian once you lose it we are plodding back (which is as quick as they can go!!)

The only thing you can do is either keep possession and gradually move forward, but our lot can't string 5 passes together, or you need carriers which is merely why it looks like we play better when Antonio plays. He can't do it on his own though so you need Lanzini and Anderson to carry it forward and Lanzini has gone as a player at the moment and Anderson flatters top deceive.

So that's your options gone!

Re: 2019/20 Relegation thread
I'm fairly convinced we are going down which I did not believe as recently as early as last month. I really thought Fabianski returning would see the team come back together and start performing, but in the Arsenal game I thought, "Pellers may have lost the dressing room"

Once Fab injured himself again and the injuries elsewhere accelerated combined with our total lack of ambition in the transfer window, it had all the makings of turning toxic to the extent it hasn't already. I cannot believe the Moyes felt he needed no reinforcements apart from a professional mostly uninjured goalkeeper for a team in a relegation battle depleted by injuries and morale.

The message from the board is "throw in the towel on this season and don't get relegated" which if I'm honest has likely been the case for 10 years now.

Re: 2019/20 Relegation thread
If they wanted to spend it. But they don't. Desperate for a RB but they offer nearly 50% less than the players value.

If it was me in charge and I wanted to stay up I would've spent £100m easily by now and have 5 or 6 new players already through the door.

But they aren't interested in that and they want Moyes to keep us up with what he has got.

Re: 2019/20 Relegation thread
Example:

River Plate defender Gonzalo Montiel. Available for £17m and we have offered £9m. So there is £17m of your £100m already.

Do you want me to give you actual names?

There are at least three or four midfield targets available. Same with strikers. Seeing as we can't seem to keep a clean sheet Vestergaard would also be a good start.

A RB would also be good.

I think that would be roughly £100m in fees and wages.

Re: 2019/20 Relegation thread
They are probably preparing the official club statement after the transfer window... We tried, we have full confidence in the manager to turn things around, we spent 45m on Haller etc.

Then when we get relegated “the fans didn’t get enough behind the team” “they wanted a big manager to get us to the next level” “we didn’t promise anything”....

I'll be surprised if we stay up, I don't think the team has the same fight as the ones around them.

Re: 2019/20 Relegation thread
You’re dead right.

Look at the transfer business, they actually aren’t very good at making money - in fact they usually do the complete opposite.

If you wanna make money get someone in to run the club for you, because all you’re good at is failing.

I did my protesting in the 90s against the bond scheme, I wouldn't go near that shit hole if you paid for the cab fare. there's 50k+ to protest, and that anyone can still be happy with anything the owners do is one of the universe's greatest mysteries

Re: 2019/20 Relegation thread
The reason Noble still holds down a place in the side is because our signings in that department for the last 3/4 years have not been an improvement on what we have.

£100m Russ?? Who we spending that on?? Or are we buying a 100 players at a million pound each?? Just wondering….

Re: 2019/20 Relegation thread
Maybe they should go and speak with the owner of Brentford? He deploys a 'moneyball' scouting and recruitment system that everyone at the club needs to buy-in to. It seems to find them real gems that they get for peanuts and sell for big profit.

Well, that's if money is their motivator

Hopefully the people moaning at the board and lack of activity were also at the protest at the weekend.

Re: 2019/20 Relegation thread
Can we have a liquidation thread instead?

Just disband the club and be done with it.

Re: 2019/20 Relegation thread
Just think Russ, if we had taken all our chances in the first half yesterday, we could have gone it at.......well, 2-0 down!

Don't go mental. Just pulling your plonker son.

Re: 2019/20 Relegation thread
If the owners were serious about staying up then they would've already spent about £100m in this window. But they aren't and so they haven't. It's not often I say this but right now I am embarrassed by this club.
