Alan Minter
In the proper days he earned his stripes for me.. Very underated... The Finnegan bouts were on top.
Hagler isn't Minters story..
Anyways.. Golden era for Boxing.

WBA and WBC belts.. And to get a shot at the Champ you had to fuckin earn it..
Lloyd Honeyghan destroying Curry was special

Maurice Hope and Dave Boy Green were other fighters worth remembering from that era.

Think they were finished after bumping into Wilfred Benitez and SRL.

Re: Alan Minter
I consider Foreman the best heavyweight of all time. Would have beaten Ali in a rematch.

Soldo will tell you about the first Foreman v Frazier fight

Re: Alan Minter
I saw Leonard, Hagler & Tyson in their prime who I consider the best I've seen.

Best British boxer in my lifetime?
Eubank, Benn, McGuigan, Honeyghan, Hamed, Calzaghe, Lewis?
Is Fury close to getting on the list?

Eubank, Lewis or Calzaghe for me with Calzaghe edging it because he retired unbeaten.

Re: Alan Minter
Herol Graham was so unlucky against Julian Jackson.
The ref was going to call off the fight at the end of that round due to state of Jackson's eye and then BOOM!

Laing was winning both Colin Jones fights easily and roused Jones by punching him in the bollocks.
You'd have though he would have learned after the first fight but no.

Re: Alan Minter
i remeber going to the Kaylor v Graham fight , Herrol won it fair and square but Kaylor gave him a great fight and i personally believe it was that fight that was the beginning of the end for Graham , took so much out of him .

Re: Alan Minter
Remember the Minter Hagler fight and the trouble at the end.
Best fighters I've seen were Leonard, Hagler and Tyson. I remember watching Ali when I was young but not in his prime.

Re: Alan Minter

No doubting of the talent mate, just the attitude, not many people went the distance with Duran let alone beat him. Jones obviously caught him on two bad nights.

I can recall Kirlkland Laing twice boxing the ears of Colin Jones only to be sparked out twice......I dont think he was as good as he thought he was!
