Rafa Benitez
Could be available come the transfer window according to the Mirror and one or two other places. Would love see him as our manager, thoughts?

Evolve or Repeat?
Our owners are destined to repeat.
I'd like a young manager with something to prove.
I'd like to see more investment in the "yoof."
I'd like to see more involvement by the supporters with a seat on the board.

I fear that the owners haven out of ideas and whatever happens MP is whistling as he slopes off into retirement at our expense.

Poch sacked by Spurs
Reckon the dildo brothers might see him as an option?

Re: Rafa Benitez
Our owners are hire managers like MP because he is the equivalent of a Jaguar or Rolls with 3 or 4 previous owners. Looks flash and has the "bling factor" they love on first viewing, was once a top of the range car to have but now on close inspection, the engine rattles, and the bodywork looks tired. You wouldn't risk it on a long trip etc.

Everything they do is part of a "make a fast buck" mentality. Short term thinking. They made money mostly via property after the initial stint in the porn industry to build their wealth and good luck to them but they are not intelligent thinkers who want to build a legacy by taking a iconic club like West Ham to the "next level" that they claim. Well they would like to but by doing everything "half arsed".

The squad is the epitome of what they are all about and the car analogy is relevant again. They buy an old Aston Martin but its engine is clapped out and the tires are on their last knockings, the brakes down to the linings etc.. But it has top notch alloys, bling style paint work from "pimp my ride" and at first glance impresses. When you ask the price it didnt cost 100 grand it was a dated 35 grand budget purchase.

In other words, they are clueless and whoever comes in will fail as they would never think long term and be prepared for the culture and ethos change necessary to transform us from the underperforming club we have always been.

Need new owners but ones that actually want success on the pitch not just in their bank accounts or put the two on equal footing at least.

Benitez would keep us up but he does seem like a used Jag? ;-)

I do like how he takes his glasses off and puts them in his top pocket. First class.

Re: Rafa Benitez
Now the Chinese merry go round of managers. If MP was on half of what salary Rafa has in China, is a sign that he is not just here for a final pay packet.
The Rafa of now and Newcastle is taking us side ways or safe , just safe. Nothing exciting , nothing more.
Novac has good experience , good age , ambitious, apparently lost the dressing room at Bayern , but still one of the highest wins per game as a manager 69%. He hasn´t left them in dire straits.

fuck payet, I feel like at the very least 60% of the fan base saw it from the off, but didn't mobilize themselves in time to do anything about it, which is the real tragedy.

aren't Rafa's team in China struggling badly?
could well be a free agent soon.

Re: Rafa Benitez
I wouldn't want him here. But since no young, up and coming manager with a future to think of is likely to want to sully his image at this stage by working for our owners in this stadium, we're left with the ones who've largely had their careers and - although I'm not suggesting they don't take the job seriously - are prepared to take the job if enough money is offered.

Re: Rafa Benitez
Goose - That is a 100% spot on, what the fuck do we stand for as a club?

I'm good mates with a Burnley fan and the management had a 'vision' back in the days of Stan Ternent as manager in League 2, kept going forward with managerial appointments, ending up with Dyche who bought into what they were trying to achieve. This has been done on gates of 20k. They may cloggers but the value added to that club puts those fucking muppets in charge of us to shame.

Re: Rafa Benitez
A lot of the praise for Biesla was around “culture change”.
Sounds like management speak, but a change of culture is exactly what is required.

Now whether a manager can bring about that change is another question. Some would say the problems sit with the board.

Re: Rafa Benitez
What about that lad at WBA, who (just) are above Leeds in the Championship? I wouldn't quibble about Bielsa, at least he would install a work-rate with our players. Unfortunately Leeds have more potential than us, whilst those three are in charge!

Re: Rafa Benitez
was watching the Leeds documentary on Prime the other day............. everyone speaks very highly of Biesla.
He was always my #1 choice when we got Bilic then Moyes but i fear its too late now. He seems to be very much at home at Leeds, and is not motivated by money.

The story goes that DS interviewed him before Bilic and he told them he needed X number of new players and that the training ground was shit. For some reason he didnt get the job...............

Marcelo Bielsa?

Not seen him mentioned. I think he’d suit us, short term appointment again though at 64.

Re: Rafa Benitez
The board have put the club in a position where any half-decent manager wouldn't touch the job with someone else's barge-pole, let alone their own.

I've said this before, and I still can't dismiss it completely: maybe Payet saw the signs earlier than anybody else - they promised to build a team around him and promptly delivered a bucket of shit for him to work with. Then tried to buy his silence.

Based on Newcastle experience...
May save us from relegation..

So we hired a foreign OAP who had spent the past couple of years adding massively to his pension pot out in the footballing backwater of China, and now it's suggested we're going to pretty much make the same mistake all over again.

Wouldn't surprise me one bit.
