Guardian Rumour Mill

When you think about it, it’s a glaringly obvious transfer link-up. Marouane Fellaini and David Moyes, the Elizabeth Taylor and Richard Burton of the English Premier League, hooking up for a third time. With Moysey getting his feet under the table at West Ham and ‘Big Felly’, as his old Everton and Manchester United boss calls him, facing a 75% paycut at Shandong Luneng due to new regulations in China, it looks a match remade in heaven. Except, except, others in the know suggest that the Hammers have no interest in the king of chest control. That’s the thing about transfer rumours, they can’t always come true, no matter how much you might want them to.

With Harry Kane crocked until April, Moussa Dembélé, previously Chelsea-bound, has been linked with a move to Spurs, who are now to be found desperately scrabbling around for strikers. Milan’s Krzysztof Piatek is reported to have already agreed a deal to head to White Hart Lane. Chelsea and Tottenham meanwhile, are set to compete for the attentions of Atlético Madrid winger Thomas Lemar, yet to score a single goal this season. Habib Diallo of FC Metz is another striker linked with a move to Stamford Bridge as Olivier Giroud is almost definitely for the off.

Giroud’s agent has been pictured in Milan, and the word is a deal with Inter is in the offing. There, he will link up with Ashley Young, said to be ‘angered’ by Manchester United’s ‘token’ offer of a new amid interest from Inter and thus even more determind to hook up with Antonio Conte’s team.

Back to Spurs: Christian Eriksen, able to sign with his next club this month as his current contract expires this summer, has made a decision. And that decision is that he does not want to be a Manchester United player. United might be more successful in their hunt for a central defender to partner Harry Maguire, and Kalidou Koulibaly of Napoli is a prime candidate, being one of the players that club president Aurelio De Laurentiis is willing to shell this summer.

Arsenal want new players to be added to a squad struck by injuries and also short of top talent but new manager Mikel Arteta has been told he can only sell to buy or loan in players if he wants to add a central defender and a midfielder to his ranks. That puts Nathan Aké out of range for the moment. And hence Arteta’s keenness to convince fans’ favourite Granit Xhaka to stay on at the Emirates.

Meanwhile, Gareth Bale does not want to leave Real Madrid, despite their continuing desperation to get him off the wage bill.

Truth about Marouane Fellaini to West Ham transfer rumour amid talk the deal's on

David Moyes’ West Ham have been linked with interest in signing ex-Manchester United and Everton midfielder Marouane Fellaini during the January transfer window

By Jack Staplehurst Sport Reporter

West Ham will not be signing Marouane Fellaini this month despite reports claiming David Moyes would be interested in another reunion.

The Hammers manager has twice signed the big Belgian midfielder in the past while in charge at Everton of Manchester United.

Following his return to the dugout at the London Stadium less than a fortnight ago, rumours of a third swoop for Fellaini emerged.

However, Starsport understands there is no truth to the speculation surrounding the 32-year-old potentially returning to the Premier League with West Ham.

Fellaini is currently plying his trade in the Chinese Super League with Shandong Luneng.

After five-and-a-half years at Old Trafford, he left for China, but it appears a move back to English football could be his desire.

West Ham, though, will not be pursuing Fellaini before the window shuts in three weeks’ time.

The Hammers, however, are on the verge of completing their first January signing.

Gedson Fernandes is poised to arrive on an 18-month loan from Benfica to provide a solution in the middle of the park.

Fans have been crying out for some time for a box-to-box midfielder to come in and support Declan Rice and Mark Noble.

West Ham have seen off competition from Chelsea and United to secure an agreement for the 21-year-old.

Elsewhere, highly rated Club Brugge midfielder Sander Berge, 21, is also a target and has admirers at Liverpool too.

Joe Allen of Stoke is a back-up option, while in goal, Darren Randolph is expected to secure his return to the London Stadium soon from Middlesbrough despite concerns surrounding a thigh injury.

West Ham player undergoing medical as he seals 19/20 exit

West Ham midfielder Conor Coventry had a Lincoln City medical yesterday afternoon as he puts the finishing touches to a temporary move, Football Insider can reveal.

The Republic of Ireland Under-21 international signed a new Hammers three-and-a-half year contract that was announced last Saturday.

A West Ham source has told Football Insider that Coventry, 19, is now set to join League One outfit Lincoln for the remainder of the campaign.

The terms of the deal were agreed last week but manager David Moyes wanted him to be available for selection for last Sunday’s FA Cup clash against Gillingham.

In the event, Coventry did not feature as Moyes played a virtual full-strength team to secure a 2-0 win and progress into the fourth round of the competition.

The Republic of Ireland Under-21 international played for the Hammers’ Under-23s on Monday night and now has been given the green light to go on loan for the rest of the season.

West Ham rate Coventry highly and are eager for him to get regular game experience at a senior level.

He has yet to go out on loan although he has captained their Under-23s side this season and earned rave reviews for his performances.

His move to Lincoln on loan comes after his new West Ham deal landed a blow to his multiple suitors.

As revealed by Football Insider, Rangers joined Celtic in trying to lure the London-born teenager to Glasgow with the offer of a contract in the summer when he was set to be a free agent.

Former West Ham prodigy Reece Oxford 'on verge of joining Dutch side VVV-Venlo on loan' after leaving England for Bundesliga side Augsburg last summer

By Jonathan Spencer For Mailonline

Reece Oxford is reportedly on the brink of moving to VVV-Venlo on loan just five months after making the transfer from West Ham to Augsburg last summer.

Oxford burst onto the scene in sensational style while playing for West Ham back in 2015, producing a fantastic display on his Premier League debut at the tender age of 16 in a 2-0 victory over Arsenal at the Emirates.

He had been tipped for a huge future in England but things certainly haven't turned out the way he would have hoped and now he is on the verge of moving to Holland.

The 21-year-old defensive midfielder is set to join struggling Dutch side VVV-Venlo on loan until the end of the season, which could turn into a permanent deal in the summer.

This expected loan move to Holland comes just five months after joining Bundesliga side Augsburg on a permanent deal.

He had joined Augsburg on loan in January 2019 and impressed enough to turn the move into a permanent deal in August.

However, the English youngster has made just eight appearances so far this campaign, and is searching for regular first team football.

Oxford is desperate to kick-start his career after stalling somewhat over the last few seasons.
