This coronavirus in China
anyone else worried? 9 dead so far.

CNY soon so the virus will spread very quickly if they cannot control it. It'll be in Europe by the end of CNY if not earlier.

is this the end of humanity?

Re: This coronavirus in China
media have gone into usual scaremongering frenzy - be good to have some widely published stats on ages/vax status of victims/hospitalisations then we can really see what we are dealing with
also be good to have hospital discharge figures daily rather than just admissions to reassure the public that vast majority of people are treated quickly for a minor illness
govt now blaming people for not having jabs when they have shut down a lot of jab centres - it's comical mismanagement

Media love all this. Cases are soaring because media tell us they are.

I saw majority of current cases are kids under 16.
This is partly what media don’t say. We could have millions of cases but if the cases are those who are thankfully unlikely to get seriously ill is it a problem?

Cases are "soaring" because testing is "soaring".

We're testing 3 times more currently, than we did at the same point last year.

I’ve got covid now.
Had a day off from work and went fishing on Tuesday but felt a bit rough so went home and literally went straight to bed. Tested myself yesterday morning and got a pos result. Felt fine yesterday afternoon and feel fine now.
Haven’t lost my sense of taste or smell either, hardly coughing. To be honest I’ve had worse hangovers. I have been loading right up on vit d, c, magnesium and zinc though so maybe that has helped.

Comma

Hope your acquaintance is ok. Makes you wonder though how accurate the efficacy figures are for the vaccine if your friend has had three doses and has still contracted covid, does he have symptoms?

"Of the big European nations, the UK and Italy death rates at over 130,000 do not look good."

not that the death figures mean fuck all given the fraudulent nature of the testing procedures, but Bosnia, Bulgaria, N.Macedonia, Montenegro, Hungary, Gibraltar, Georgia, Slovakia, Romania, Slovenia, Belgium, Croatia all have more deaths per 1m of their population than the UK & Italy

Much of that post is true. But it ain't over yet.

IMHO the fact we've have got off lightly (compared to Aus for example), is more to do with both our general stubborn nature, and government incompetence at enforcing anything, rather than our rulers' good nature.

Maybe I'm wrong. I hope I am...

How does that work for the BBC?

Re: This coronavirus in China
Record viewing figures = more advertising revenue = higher profits = more money available to sponsor MPs who support policies that create an environment for record viewing figures.

Even that is too many dots for some to join.

If I had been told that over 75-year-olds would dying of Covid even though they’d been vaccinated, I’d have said do you know how a vaccine works? And why are you playing on the grief, scum?

Re: This coronavirus in China
Sven

The figure that was given out earlier this week (bbc) was that over 500 a week who are dying are over 75 double jabbed.

This was in a piece pushing the booster, so you can see how they work, but its a shocking stat really. Imagine if they had told us this when the vaccine program started

Re: This coronavirus in China
Lock-downs give the media a virtual monopoly on the transmission of information, so there should be little surprise that they're all for it.

No chance to discuss and debate events face-to-face, formally or informally means less chance of the seeds of doubt, or desire to seek alternatives, being sowed.

Re: This coronavirus in China
I understand it cant be done on the daily numbers but it will be possible with a delay to tell us the status of all of those hospitalised and those DEAD in terms of age & vaccination status.

Am going to take a wild guess that the vast majority are elderly and unvaccinated.
Once thats established then any idea of restrictions returning goes out the window.
